I've Only been a Member here a couple of Days and I've seen the words "Pressure Sore" Too Much !!!
Once is too much! I'm a C4 C5 Who has NEVER had a Sore in my 30 years in a Chair. Their Preventable !
Simply Checking checking your skin Every Day for any Redness or Change in Texture will help Prevent getting a Sore.
See any Redness, Change in color or Texture? Stay off of it, Completely until it returns to Normal.
Come on, Staying in bed off of a spot that appears a slight bit Red or Pinkish for a Day is Better then Spending Weeks or Months in Bed to heal a Sore that Won't grow back the normal skin you had is Well worth it.
The Skin that Grows back after a Sore is Not as Tough as the original Skin, leaving you more likely to get another one even faster in the same spot!
Please only take this as advise! I grew tired of visiting too many friends I made in rehab, to Only see them Stuck in Bed time and time again.
Check your Skin often !!!

Hi Jimmy,
I had a pressure sore a couple of years ago. It wasn't caused by sitting down for long periods but was caused by a toilet seat with a small radius edge on the site of an old pressure sore I got while in an induced coma. What aggravated it was sitting down at work. It ended up taking ten months of daily dressings to heal. Getting pressure off the sore is important but for some, work/life pressures can make that impossible. My pressure sore could have healed in a couple of weeks or so but other things made it impossible. As you can see, they aren't all caused by long periods sitting down but can be caused by sitting on sharp objects, clothing, moisture and even bad transfers.
Congratulations though in going so long without one, what you are doing obviously works for you. I hadn't had one for
twenty five years prior to my last one either and they are a real issue for some.

My intentions for starting this Post, was Purely to Bring attention and Help to those who have suffered from Sores that could've been prevented with a Little insight from someone who Never had one!
By No means was is Posted to offend Anyone who's had a Sore from Things Totally out of their Control.
When my butt stings even if it's only been a fews hours from checking my skin, I ask my aide to see for me. When told it looks ok! I ask them to get the hand held mirror, I want to see.
I know there are Good and Evil people in the world. If I'm stuck in bed cause I took someone else's word, it's my fault. And they end up with having less work to do for the same pay!
I'm only Trying to help!
