Hey everyone, we are holding a benefit concert for my fiance to help raise money for medical expenses and equipment that we just can not afford. I never knew how much stuff someone needed to get rehabilitated. However, the city is letting us use the park and we have bands who will be playing for free, as well as a few sponsors and donated products to auction off. (i.e., gift certificates to restaurants)
In addition to helping Randy, we also want to raise awareness for sci in general, as many people around here don't know much about it.
We also started this: www.giveforward.com/randyhudson
I was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas to make this event more successful.

I didn't have anything like that & I've never been to one so I can't help ya there. But hope it raises the $ you guys need for the equipment/expenses.
And that was really cool of local restaurants to give gift certificates & such.

I recently helped out with a fundraiser for a friend of mine who had colon cancer. We had a space donated to us and made a ton of baskets to raffle. We made themed baskets like "Date Night" which included a restaurant gift certificate, a gift certificate for a movie theater and a gift certificate for a florist. Another basket was "Jet Setter" which included airline and hotel vouchers. Other themed baskets were "Hey Good Lookin" (salon and personal trainer gift cards), "Frankie Say Relax!" (spa day), etc. I think the themed baskets made people excited to buy more raffle tickets. The venue also agreed to donate 20% of all food and drinks sales from that entire day (not just from our fundraiser) to the cause. We also set up a drop box for people to make personal donations and a paypal account so out of town friends and family could help out. We ended up making around $10,000! Hope these ideas help.
