I am 30 years post injury and I recently too started to sweat and my blood pressure, usually 90/40, elevates to well over 150. I had established that it was activity related and Vicodin made it stop. After several X-rays, MRI's, and a bone scan, they established that it is my sternum. It is inflammed and swollen. It has gotten worse and is starting to effect the bones connected to my sternum. They took a bone biopsy and all is negative (cancer, rheumatoid arthritis). Has anyone encountered anything similar?

Hi Rainbow,

Have they ruled out Costochondritis and Tietze syndrome?

Tietze syndrome is an inflammation of the costochondral cartilages of the upper front of the chest.

Costochondritis is a common form of inflammation of the cartilage where ribs attach to the breastbone, the sternum.

Yes. They ruled that out. When they did the biopsy, the Dr. said the joint in the sternum was "squishy."

hi rainbow

This is nothing i have heard of, and i hope its something that can be helped for you, theres so many complications that happen.

And bringing this awareness always helps others, its tough when us with blood pressure changes all the time, just take it as the normal..which for some of us (like me lol) yet others may notice symptoms like yours and go tell their family doctor..a good reason why this sites so good i think.

please do keep us updated, best wishes
