Hi everybody...I am a new member. I'm so glad I've found this site where I hope I can communicate with persons like me.I am from the Philippines and I've been on a wheelchair for more than 20 years now.I am happily married with 1 child. Since I spend most of the time sitting on my chair, I sometimes, develop pressure sores...which is I think very normal for us. Now I'd like to know if anyone of you know the best medicine for this...an ointment or cream perhaps? Please help me. Thanks!

Hi Chat.. Welcome to the forum..

There is quite a lot of information on here about treating pressure sores, but the best is to try to prevent them from occurring.. Use the search function to see the previous threads about pressure sores..

Pressure sores can be killers, so you really should make a serious effort to relieve pressure before the sores develop (I'm mentioning this as you make it sound like you regularly have pressure sores)..

Best of luck..

Hi Chat,
welcome to the site its a great help. I tend to agree with smileyblue prevention is the best way, just try relief pressure anyway u can leaning foward, side to side, lift urself often if u can, & use a mirror to check ur skin every morning & night. If one has started keep it dry, clean, & stay off of it until its gone. hope this helps chat.

Good luck chat soon ted

Hi Chat
I am new to this site as well and couldn't help but read your post. Everyone is right, try to eliminate sores before they start. If you do end up with sores on your bottom, staying in bed to stay off them is best so they heal. I know this from personal experience. I'm a C7 and have been injured 2 years and am learning the hard way so I'm glad I found this site. Good luck to you and take care.

Hi Aparr,
Thanks for the advice...I really appreciate it. I know very well that prevention is better than cure. But you know, I am a busy person. I have lots of duties everyday especially with my daughter so it's really hard for me to stay in bed all day. But luckily for me my pressure sore is now getting better..the healing is really fast. Thanks to my husband who's always been very patient in dressing the wound everyday..and searching for the right medication. Godwilling, I'll be wound free real soon. Good luck to you too...and God bless!

Some one on here mentioned Medihoney for healing sores. I googled it and it comes in a paste ,gel, and already on dressings. Maybe this might be good to try.

Hi goose,
Thanks! But I don't know if it's available here. I am using Bactigras...also a dressing. And so far, it's been very effective. My wound is almost healed now. :yahoo:
