I got a letter this week from my TV region stating that TV in my area goes digital only in March next year and that I could take advantage of an offer for people on DLA to upgrade to digital for £40.
I phoned the helpline number because i know that my current arial isnt good enough for digital as i did try pluging a box in a while ago and get no signal, not a suprise as i only get two analogue channels.
Apparently this isnt a problem as the engineer with replace the areial for that £40 as well as set up and install a digi box
what is the catch?

They did that here in the U.S. a couple of years ago. Digital and analog signals are not compatible so without a converter box and a good aerial you can't watch tv.
It will get worse when everything goes HD later. The $40 for a box and aerial is not bad, especially if a tech will install and adjust it for you.

Hi
I got the same letter on Saturday, i will give them a ring on Tuesday to see what it is about. i have already got a sky box, just the freesat, but it also says that even if you already have one TV with digital, they can help with one TV in the house, i have a small TV in my bedroom which is not connected to the sky box, so i will ask if they can help with that one.
Will let you know what they say. i dont think it is a catch, as i have seen the TV adverts explaining if you are over 75 or eligible disabled they can help.
