My name is Ruby and i have been in a wheelchair for 4 years and my husband and i have been debating on whether or not to have another baby. Turns out i was 5 months pregnat with my first child when i was in a car wreck witch left me as a t12 paraplegic. It was very hard and depressing trying to adapt to my new life in a wheelchair and being a first time mom, however i feel that i am ready to have another :/ i am nervous because i know i will have to go without any meds for the 9 months. I've been on gabapentin pretty much for the 4 years and i dont know thAT i can deal with the nerve pain, please help i really want another child what should i do, my husband is nervous because he thinks its gona be as bad as when i had my little boy but i know it wont be because i am emotionally stabel now and am willing to go through it all i just need a friend that understands and will give me some good advice as to what to do. if Anyone can help please!!!!

Well....I doubt most OBGYNs would be "OK with" you staying on the meds. If this is something that you really REALLY WANT....& you want it bad enough to ween yourself off the meds & see how well you cope than go for it. If you start going to lower doses & notice unbearable spasms & pain than you'll need to weigh it out for yourself. I have 4 & I would cut all meds & just spend super painful days in bed trying to meditate through it. I ended up with more problems as far as that with each pregnancy it got more complicated & harder on my back/body. Everyone is different though. You'll have support here no matter which you decide.

I agree there need be no mystery to this. just experiment with lowering your dosage to see if it is bearable to you. I test yearly and each year I end up in agony and go back on my meds. But that is me and I am beyond childbearing.
