Hi, just wanted to pass on the news that I have recently been awarded my race licence for Solo Motorcycle in the Hillclimb/Sprint/Twisty Sprint disciplines. It is my wish to race against other bikes, but I am still having difficulty in getting the ACU to grant me a licence for those races. I am now competing, and in my last Twisty Sprint I came 16th out of 20 - which was frustrating as 14th was only 0.2sec away. I have two more races coming up in the next two weekends, so hope to improve on my placings.

I also did a Sprint, and I attach some photographs from that and from the other races. In the sprint I was up against the record holder in the seventh round, so I wanted to get a quick start. I did, but i dumping the clutch I pulled a huge wheelie, which I was able to recover (just), but it messed up my run. Still, got the biggest cheer for saving it!

If those who live in the UK are interested in riding again, please look at our charity facebook page called 'The Bike Experience', as I teach disabled motorcyclists how to ride again. If you don't live in the UK, please look anyway, and if you come over on a trip, get in touch and we can see if we can get you back on a bike.

Cheers
Talan

That is great! All things considered if you are beating able bodied people then that is a huge acheivement. BTW what tire are you running on the back, looks like a touring tire almost?

That's mighty imprressive, Talan. You look compact and composed on the bike. Obviously you've got the sliding backside issue sorted. All the best for the future.

I am running wets. In the type of races I'm currently involved in, you cannot use tyre warmers. As the runs are relatively short, you need a tyre that warms up quickly, so a lot of racers go for wets. Some of the supermoto riders use a slick back tyre, but they will do a controlled, short burn out to warm up the tyre.

Ah that makes sense. Make sure to post videos or pics of your upcoming races, really enjoyed them.

Well done my friend, what bike are you running, it looks a bit like a Suzuki GS, and I have a fetish for those things. How did you find it being out post injury.
I wish we had those hill climb sprint events in Canada, but insurance and a lack of worthy roads, that anyone would allow to be closed seems to be our problem. Shame I would like to build a bike for such an event. I have only been out to some trackdays, since. Again very well done.

Best regards Ian.
