is it possible to have an allergic reaction to baclofen while refilling (less then 10 seconds)the pump?cause it has to pass to the resevoir first.how much time does it take for the baclofen to reach my system after refilling to have an allergic reaction? cause i think he refilled it in the wrong hole, the one that goes to the catheter.
p.s.:i started taking baclofen oral 13 yrs and 3 years ago i had my pump installed.
plz i need ur opinion cause drs. here never admit if they do anything wrong.
thanks in advance,
Rabih from Beirut Lebanon.

It seems strange to suddenly have an allergic reaction to baclofen, especially as, due to the nature of the pump, you would have had a continuous stream of baclofen going into your body normally. I think you are right to be suspicious, the question is what can you do about it? Is there another doctor you can visit? If not, can you ask for another refill, by your consultant doctor to see if it was just a one off playing dumb to the fact you think it was the junior dr who caused it?

What are the symptoms?

If the refill was done through the bolus port on the pump, you would receive a massive overdose which would put you in a coma.

The time duration for this to occur would be around 45minutes.

10 seconds is very quick, as I said, what are the symptoms?

thank u for ur time to help guys.my dr. stopped my baclofen and gave me antideppresnts (cymbalta and zeprexa) which r not helping except for their side effects.i have an appointment with another dr. soon and hope he's better.now my spasms r driving me crazy and my blood pressure goes up everytime i move or change position, even when im sleeping(up to 22/14).he also said that i should feel better when baclofen is out of my system and its been more then 5 weeks now,and im still suffering.not to mention the weird dreams i have everynight due to the new meds i guess.is it possible there is a leakege from the catheter?would it take seconds, mind u that it happened while refilling not later?
