Today I ran a new PB in difficult conditions in the Bristol half marathon, I ran in 1.40hours previous PB 1.59. Considering I left hospital 9 weeks ago and up until 4 weeks ago was dependent on oxygen after my latest flare up I am so pleased. The Drs told me that my lung damage is bordering on incompatible with life now that I have 14 growths in both lungs the largest being over 13cm, so this was a big "up yours" to the Drs. I ran for the Matt Hampson Foundation, and am doing the Leicester half marathon in a month for the same charity.

I am also having a lung op in 2 weeksm but should recover in time for Leicester, the op is high risk but quick recovery.

Jules

:yahoo: :toast: go on our lass, flipping excellent going.

Operation 'lung heal' is the next challenge for our Jules. Followed by another adventure in me ol' home town of Leicester I read.

How the heck you kick the ass of any doctors 'no, this isn't possible' medical chit chat., has no word to describe your natural ability to gracefully float in life way above the dark clouds of health dispair. There is no word invented as there is not much use for such a description in everyday life so maybe...its time there is.

May you enjoy your next 2 weeks being as much fun for you as possible before your date with 'shock.even.more.doctors.in hospitals.com', as you heal and recover in what I can class as only 'our.jules.style'.

Me thoughts are with you.

You are a strong woman, go sister!

Doctors are idiots, as I well know. Keep at it! From that photo, you weren't half as winded as the guys! Just think of what you could do with more lung power. Good luck to you. Wish I could be there to cheer you on at Leicester.

Just a quick update for you, I had my lung op last week. Although I made it through ok the operational doesn't appear to have been a success because I had a bleed overnight at some point on Monday night. We always knew that it was something of a long shot but at least we tried.

On a happier note, this Sunday is Leicester half marathon, so if anybody fancies coming to cheer me on I am starting at 9.10, the route is here

http://www.leicestermarathon.org.uk/

The last mile is apparently uphill, which I am not looking forward to, particularly as it is forecast to be wet and windy, however anyone who is there to give me a cheer I will much appreciate it, however I do apologise in advance for my language if the hill is steep.

Thanks

Jules

Great you made it through. It's a bit early to be writing it off as a failure, isn't it?
It's also a bit early to be doing half marathons too, but I doubt anyone on this earth could talk you out of it :mfrlol:.

Good luck and think nothing of the bad language if it helps. :D

I PB'd again in 1.37 on a very difficult course, 1st half very good nice roads, up and down which is fine, but mile 7-11 on park footpaths which were far too tight for a racing chair, and it was so slippery my brakes were useless they just made me skid (racing chairs have slick tyres)I just couldn't get any momentum. I did first 6 miles in under 30mins which just shows how hard 2nd half was, so found it slightly frustrating.

Clara, thanks so much for the support and cheering me on at the start and the finish :-)

Here is a picture, taken at the start, with our very own Clara making a guest appearance in the background :-)leicester 1.jpg
