I*m 18 months post injury, nearly a year out of rehab and feel so stuck. I feel I should be so more forward than I am. I knew that obviously things would not be easy but feel so stuck at the point im at. I still have a carer for a couple of hours each morning and still using a sliding board to transfer as i still havent conquered doing transfers without one.
I feel that i have actually taken a hundred steps back since my time in rehab and feel i am getting no further forward, and mentally feel worse than ever. Not sure if i am asking for advice or just soudjng of, but wondered if anyone else felt this way?

Hi Cathelena :)

You are not the only person to have or ever feel this way.. Every one progresses at their own pace and have different mind sets. How long were you in rehab for? How have you spent time since leaving the rehab? Even though you may have not been looking for advice, you have taken a positive step by speaking out! Im not the best at giving advice. Maybe some one with better words will reply! You sound like you need one of these Posted Image
Everything will be alright in the end, if it's not alright then it's not the end!

Thanks Doodle,
I was in rehab for six months and was on such an "up" when i came home to my own flat I felt that everything would fall into place. Have had numerous pain problems and utis
since been out, as am sure alot of people on here have, and i feel this has set me back quite a bit. My first few months out were really positive. I got out as much as possible and my days were always filled. Now i feel i have come to a standstill and just hit a really low point and the more it carries on the worse it gets.
Thanks again for replying

Illness will destroy a good attitude and progress is all about attitude. It does not matter if we are talking about progress rehabilitating or progress writing a book. Whatever. Depression just closes doors. First, find a way to exit UTIs. Read all the threads about them, especially

If you get your health back you will do great again, AND YOU CAN. YOU CAN YOU CAN YOU CAN. I, for one, have been where you are and can tell you it is not the SCI that gets us down, but health problems or love life problems.
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!
