Hello! Have posted here before about Vegas as we went couple of years ago, we loved it so such going again Easter next year for our honeymoon!! Booked flights just need to book hotel and trips :)

We didn't do much last time round as we run out of time but we want to book things up this time before we go, has anyone done any helicopter tours of Vegas and if so what company and how helpful were they? We would need assistance! I would really like to see grand canyon.

Also if anyone has other trips they can recommend? We want to see a cirque du soleil and maybe phantom and penn and teller if they are out there then. Love sporting events too, saw the NASCAR last time round and was a great experience!

Thinking of cosmopolitan or PH west gate towers for hotels, we stayed at planet Hollywood last time and loved it but wanted something bit different this time.

Any help would be great :)

Can't comment on the Helicopter ride, though I'd be very interested as well. We did find a rough, 20 mile dirt road that lead to the bank of the Grand Canyon. It was an extremely secluded area and we got there right before sunset. It was incredible (wink wink, nudge nudge), I will try to find it on a map and let ya know. Definitly worth the rough ride to get there, lol.

Don't forget to visit the Pawn Shop from the Discovery series "Pawn Stars", you may get on tv :)

I stayed at The Luxor. Liked it! Would go for any of the big hotels on The Strip.

Booked a helipcopter flight from Vegas to Grand Canyon. Woke up and it was raining. Only rains 2 times a year in Vegas. As it is a desert!!!

Anyway, rain stopped. Trundled off to Helicopter. Looked at transfer. Pilot and big, big bloke picked me up out of chair and lifted me over landing struts into body of copter. Not sure if they were supposed to! I have kind of winged (no pun intended) it like this frequently. Most of the time people try hard to help. Go for it would be my advice.

I loved Vegas too!! Wandering the strip and people watching is amazing.

Im leaving for Vegas next Wednesday.. going with some friends who have never been. I've been before, but not in a wheelchair.. cant wait to experience it for the first time, all over again.
You guys are all recommending the helicopter rides, but no ones saying WHO to fly with?! Fill me in! How many ppl can a helicopter accommodate? 2?....5?!!!

That hotel looks stunning but I tried putting in my dates and it said no rooms available!! Is it because it's too early or is there some sort of major event going on in Vegas and it's going to be mega busy?? My dates are 9th April to 17th 2012??

Ches, enjoy your holiday I'm so jealous your going so soon I can't wait!! Come straight back on here to recommend anything :) especially helicopter rides!! Lol

The Luxor has over 4000 rooms! Can't believe they are full!

I phoned them as it was easier than booking on line.

I'm feeling jealous now!! I want to go!

Loews is very reasonable for the accomodations, I believe it was around $150-175 a night for their nicer rooms. That price also included significant discounts at their spa and restaurants. It's very unfortunate they are full, I found everything about the property to be fantastic. I've stayed at three of them, Vegas, Tucson and Coronado Beach....

Possibly you are booking too far in advance.. try calling, it cant hurt.

We stayed at Hooters.. my mother highly recommended it, but once we arrived we were disappointed. The place is small, and has definitely seen better days..but after all is said and done I really couldnt complain with a bill of less than $300 for 5 nights. The casino is tiny and of course we ventured out to the bigger better hotels but towards the end of the trip we were all beginning to really enjoy that quaint feeling. I'm not sure I'd stay there again, but as far as accessibility I have absolutely no complaints.

I dont really have any complaints about accessibility anywhere... The bridge from Excalibur to Tropicana was probably the worst.. all up hill. I eventually got tired of the bridges and used crosswalks when I could.

We didnt get to do a helicopter ride, 3 of us 5 were on serious budgets.. hints why we stayed at Hooters to begin with.

I pissed off about 100 ppl by getting us in the front of the long line at the Stratosphere.. that is always pleasurable.

I cant wait to go back!

One more thought..We took the monorail from MGM to Stratosphere..but the drop off station is actually about two blocks from the Stratosphere.. and there isnt a concrete path to get onto the sidewalk.. its about 3 feet worth of rock youll need to roll thru to get onto sidewalk... AND the sidewalk in front of the entire Stratosphere is under construction and all blocked off.. We had to make about 4 blocks and ended up finding a entry through the huge chain link fence that surrounds the parking lot, and coming in from the back.. it was A LOT of work, not from a wheelchair perspective.. but even the AB's were like "where the hell are we going?" ... I'd recommend getting in a cab for that venture.. it will cost 10 bucks MAX and save you an hour of wondering!

i'm going to vegas next month and wer're staying at the wynn which is a 5 star resort. i've gone in the past and have stayed at the stratisphere which i thought was too far out of the way. i've also stayed at the flamingo which was sort of old and shabby but still a great pool area and it was right in the middle of the strip which i really liked. this time since i'm celebratin my birthday i really wanted to treat myself to a nice place. i'll let you guys know how the trip goes.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

Cheers Rz94 will see when events are on! We saw NASCAR last time and that was a brilliant experience, lol ches I will get a cab, that does sound like a lot of hard work! But definitely want to go stratosphere we didn't do that last time, mellowgator, my mum and dad always stay at flamingo but when we visited was crazy busy and we like modern, Wynn looks well nice! Bet your really excited let me know what's good! Pjcstoke, I think a trip in a us marine helicopter would be amazing! Lol am worried as its just little old me doubt Id be able to lift hubby-to-be anywhere so may just have to enquire when we get out there, wouldn't want to book and then people say that they arent prepared to lift him in.

My ex-girlfriend and I went to Vegas a few years ago and we stayed in the Bellagio. HOLY SHIT! WOw. It was unbelievable. It had everything you could imagine; accessible, roll-in showers, steam room, jacuzzi, everything. And we saw a Circue-de-Soliel performance while we were there. She dragged me to it, but I was glad I went because it was an awesome show.

It can be pricey at the Bellagio but the way I looked at it, if you are going to Las Vegas you might as well go all out. It was a memorable trip. We even met Danny Devito in the lobby. He's even shorter in person! :girl_devil:

Cirque-du-soleil is a definite on our to do list! I like the idea of bellagio and it would be for our honeymoon but I don't know if I would feel out of place? Is it really posh?

So we have just got back from our honeymoon and had a fantastic time! Virgin Atlantic were fantastic, Elara hotel (formerly ph towers) was lovely although the bed was really high! It was a difficult transfer when drunk! Bed was super comfy though! We saw la reve, ka and peepshow! Would recommend all of them! Plus the titanic exhibition (the lift to get to the mezzanine floor on Luxor however was really hard to find!) we pushed all the way down to the stratosphere for dinner at the top of the world best meal ever! Still lifts hard to find and not well signposted but we got there! Taxi back to our hotel it was a long way! The only thing we didn't do was helicopter flight :( everyone we went to regarding tickets said that hubby would need to get in plane himself so better to go back with a few mates, we could of chanced it and maybe people would have helped out but it wasn't worth paying just in case! So we have to go back now hehe!
