Hi friends,te

Ok, let me explain in decent words.

First 3 months after accident, stool removal by nurses, or suppository with accidents, uncontrolled, can't feel enough.
Then suppositories and then wait to go, between 1-2 hours it would take.
For the past few months, after two days I get the urge to go by myself, it starts to be real close to the outlet, then I can either only do a bit myself and have to get suppository
Or like yesterday, after 5 hours of trying and a bit of light painful pressure from within, I was able to push out a "large".
After that it stell felt like there is more to go.
Dilemma is :Do I wait and hope to go myself or is it better to use suppository to Evacuate the digested food ?
It is easier and less stress, pain full if I go with suppositories but ofcourse motivating the body to hopeful be able to control the task is intriguing
I am 14 months post injury and am still improving my body, it goes slow but like this week being able to walk like a just born deer without falling is a great feeling

Any thoughts, maybe I should see my doctor again?

Hello FrankOC,

I used two Dulcolax pills every other day for about 30 years. I got tired of the constant cramps all day every other day. I also got tired of having to plan my evenings out around my bm days. About 14 years ago I said to hell with this and quit taking laxatives and stool softeners. After about 4 days of pain and cramping, I finally had a movement and I haven't used them since. Sometimes with constipation, I will use a couple of Kristalose packets (20 mg) and everything seems to straighten out. Sometimes I feel like there is more but that feeling soon goes away. If I feel it after a couple of hours, I'll just go back to the commode before I go to bed.

I hope this helps.

What I do is take a hole slew of meds. I take mirilax, psyllium fiber, stool softener, sometimes with laxatives, and sometimes use a water laxative. This might help you get it out. It doesn't hurt to try. The reason I use so many different things is because every day is different. I eventually learned when to do what but I do goof.
I know I will always have a seat:)

There is no doubt,,, getting the timing down is tricky. Letting nature do it's thing would be ideal,, but then you would have to accept the risk of accidents. I went a different way,, and am pretty happy with the results,, but every one is different,, and what works for most won't always be right for some. So,,, keep trying and you'll find what's right for you.

I do, however,, wish you much luck in your efforts.

ed's right, you'll just have to work out what works best for you, the least amount of drugs u have to take the better, but you'll work it out, best of luck......you'll get the routine down..........

I'm with edlee.. if you "train" your body to take care of itself you are going to encounter accidents. It's probably best to get some kind of routine because you just never know what life is going to throw at you. - Maybe help yourself every other day, and try the natural way in between.. just a suggestion, there's plenty of ways to combine your needs w/ exercises/explorations.
And I guarantee, even with a solid routine you are still at the mercy of paralysis. Accidents, or even unanticipated poops, are gonna happen. If you're lucky enough to make it to the potty on time then you can exercise your muscles and see what you're actually working with.

Hey Frank...I'm getting a few urges...I'll let you know?? I've been on a program since Feb, but like I said...I am starting to see some natural activity...but just not enough. It's sporadic for me at best...ie one week I won't get the urge at all...another week possibly a few times I'll get the urge. I notice the urges because I've been trying to let my body take over for a while, just see how things are going. Seems prudent enough. If more than 4 days pass though....well...

Good luck...hope it all comes out alright in the end Posted Image
