Good Lord, Allis! Why on earth were you sticking foam up your butt?

Whoa,,, dude,,,,, no wonder that sucker wouldn't close. You are right about that being a load of crap. If a doctor or nurse couldn;t see that chunk of foam,, it's pretty obvious that they weren't looking very hard. My wife ( who will NEVER be mistaken for someone in the nursing profession) took charge of ALL my WoundVac stuff, after finding out that NONE of the local nurses knew anything about it. She did one hell of a job,, and although I wore that thing for amost a year,, I never had any problems arise that she couldn't handle.

But,,,, then,,,, she was paying attention,, which your guys,, most obviously, were not.

Now that they pulled the cigarette butt,, out of your butt,,, I hope things are mending a bit better.

Yes, WTF indeed?!? I think one of my biggest shocks in my experience as caregiver was that nobody was going to care about his care as I much as me. That was pretty darn scary, to say the least. I did all I could to learn what to do, but what really mattered most was just paying attention.

He has had terrible luck with wound care nurses; one actually caused additional wounds on his foot when she wrapped the bandage so tight that it caused blistering.

If only you could have gotten the webcam INSIDE the darn thing...

Good luck, I certainly hope that's the last of your setbacks!

Totally shocking and incredible. I'm very sorry to hear such things happen.

Allis, does it make any sense to try and sue somebody? Or would that just be a waste of time and energy? (Probably.)

At least, this should mean the wound should NOW heal quickly!

And it is most certainly important advice for others to be VERY critical.

Well now we know why that sucker wouldn't heal. That is f*@ked up. My wound is only half a mm now but its been 19 months. Hoping its closed by the new year 2012.

Take care dude and stay in touch so we can whip this.

BBeen a long time but that cigarette in the butt story sounds like a bad acid trip.

Man - can feel your pain and frustration! I had a piece of foam left in my wound over a couple of changes of wound vac but not near that long!

I can honestly say that I got better care in my home from home health nurse than I did while in the hospital. We took pictures of my wound so that I could monitor the progress and and it helped all of us to watch what was going on.

Wound care nurses try to make the wound vac such an difficult process - something they are specially trained to do - but I found that even my regular helpers learned to take care of it as well as the nurses did and they were almost better at patching the thing.

Hoping the new year brings you a closed wound!!
