Looking For Suggestions For A New Wheelchair

I have a Quickie titanium chair that was purchased over 11 years ago, it has been a pretty good chair but its pretty old and has been used and abused by me, the back rest broke years ago and it was poorly fixed, since the dealer that I bought it from went out of business i had to take it to a regular wielding shop. Earlier this year my cousin was driving me to works, there was no space for the chair so we tied it up to the roof's rack, unfortunately the chair fell off while were on the highway, took a severe beating, its still usable but now I need a replacement.
My disability is spina bifida, I do have some limited movement and sensibility in my legs, I need a light chair cause I'm planning on doing some traveling soon and I'm at a stage in my life where I'm starting to strive for independence.
So far I've looked at TiLite, Colours and Quickie, but I want to have as much information as possible before I make a decision since I'd have to fly to the states to get it since the dealers in my country would charge me almost twice as much for the chair.
Do you guys have any recommendations or any experiences that I could learn from?
Thank you.

There are a few posts on the forum about chairs and I am too i the process of thinking about a new chair. I think you have listed a few of the main ones but it is a case of trying them and so I don't know what to suggest if you need to fly to the states to get a chair.
Maybe contact a dealer in the states so you can try a few when you stay over then make a choice. They may have some suggestions too. Tell them what you know you want i.e a titanium chair and hopefully you can get sorted. You have been in a chair for quit some time and thus have a basic knowledge of what you want i.e titanium.
I hope this helps you

I have a Q7 (of course its my loaner chair since Im waiting on my chair, which is a Q7 also) and I love it. Of course its the first chair ive ever had, so nothing to compare it to. But its really light which is nice (: I have a guy friend here who has a Q7 and is SERIOUSLY active (like takin his chair to the skating park) and broke the rigid axel part on the bottom... So if your planing on something like that. a Tank may be a better option (:

haha, I'm not planning on being THAT active, I just want to go up curbs, maybe a couple of steps (which i need to learn how to do, i dont even know how to do a simple wheelie) and be able to push myself for relatively long distances since my main mean of transportation will be by train, i need to roll from one station to the other and such.

Well the Q7 will definatly be able to do that (: Also, have you ever looked into power assist wheels?

*Wheelchairs are made of a special ocular magnetic alloy......they're "eyeball magnets".*
*I USE a wheelchair, that does NOT make ME a wheelchair!*

As for the ZR it's the best chair I've ever had, if your moving around a lot and your chair is your main mode of transportation it works pretty great. I myself roll around almost everywhere in the city and across gravel, up hills etc. and I've noticed how much easier it is to get up inclines and curbs in this chair. Since you have a titanium chair now tilite seems like it might be a good option if you want to stick with titanium.
Their chairs are super customizable and can be very light depending on how you have them build it.
Just my two cents.

power assist wheels can not be used on the Q7 it can althou be used on the GT. I just went through this. and Sunrise said nooooooo I could not have power assist on the Q7. althou because I already owned a GT I am able to get power assist on it. I desided to give the Q7 a go and see if it was lighter and easyer to push , all I can say is the Q7 responds quick and very lite and easy to push. I would give my recomendations fr the Q7. I do have to say this. make sure upon delivery that all your bolts are tight. as my DME did not and when I got home I noticed all this. and since I am handy I went ahead and took care of it. I did take pics of it and my d's lock were installed all wrong. I had to call d's locks and take care of it myself. witch makes me think my DME is only in it for the money. screw your saftey.

I too was told that the Q7 cannot be outfitted with power assist however when I told the sunrise medical dealer I was going to switch to tilite so I could have power assist, he informed me that the Q7 CAN be outfitted with power assist it is just a pain to adapat and install. So it can but they dont like doing it... If you really want power assist on the Q7 be admit, it can be done. You'll just have to find a seating rep or dealer that is willing to though. (:
