I'm depressed,. wound's been closed & healed since the 20th of last month & i was gonna get up yesterday, but sometime between 8pm sunday & 10am monday i got a tear in my skin under the surgical scar area. i was turned twice in the night & it was noticed in the morning when up in the sling hanging getting ready for a shower. i watched cna when she put sling under me to make sure it didn't rub the area, & from what i saw, it was away from wound. looks like at least another month setback. i cant seem to get a break, i'm so frustrated. i've spent the better part of 2 yrs in bed w/ no end in site. :head_brick_wall-1:

You have had more than your fair share of bad luck mate. You are due for some good news soon thats for sure. I haven't communicated with you before, but I have read most of your posts and I truly admire your strength and courage. You may not feel it, but you are an inspiration to others, certainly to me, as we all go through some tough times and you are still fighting the good fight. I hope very soon you can get through these skin issues and are able to get out of bed and start feeling better about things. Anyway, good luck to you, you certainly deserve some.

TT... If it wasn't for bad luck you'd have no luck at all...Was this an old line from HeeHaw? That was so long ago I've almost forgotten it.

I wish I could wave a magic wand over you so that you could get completely healed...SCI and everything...might as well dream big!!!

Tex, I really feel for you, bout the only thing I can connect to are still are People with Disabilities. I lost my hubby 4years past. After a 26 year happiest ever marriage.I felt like I didn't know how to live alone. It took quite a while to realize I only had to shower myself and cook for 1 etc.
But the things that were the hardest was keeping up to date on various pressure sore treatments, and I still look for ramps not steps.
We have a guy in Queensland over here that developed a cream for "everything" made out of paw paws. I'd be happy to send you a jar to try if you want.
He went on tv and put his hand in boiling fat and you could see the blisters form and then added some cream to it pain and redness gone,
and blistering ceased and healed. Graham had very soft skin we used to put him on sheepskin never wore jeans. They ended up doing another Rotational Flap,
and it pulled it even thinner over his hip because he had no excess fat or skin on his tail end (unlike me)
Let me know if you want to try it. Cheers, D.

thank you, but its slowly getting healed, & my wound dr doesnt like to try things she doesnt know about. i suggested medihoney, which i used a couple weeks & it seemed to work pretty good, but she stopped it bxuz she said it keeps wound wet & we want to dry it out. She started putting something else on & its closing slower. I'm tired of the ned, so gonna start getting up a few hours, twice a week, & see what happens.

I can only try and understand how you feel TT as I have only had one pressure sore at the very start of my injury while I was in Rehab and I dread the thought of another, I move around a lot, stand a lot etc. and so far it has worked for me. Hope you heal soon, take care.

Hello Terrible T,

I use a product named Microcyn. It will accelerate healing and kill all germs, viruses, bacteria, HIV and MRSA. It has FDA approval for scrapes, burns, post surgery and many more uses. I have used it to eliminate pink eye (conjunctivitis), poison ivy. (I also use it in my bladder for prevention and eliminating uti's.) I started using Vetericyn VF which, according to the factory, is the same as Microcyn but is labeled for Veterinary use. You can go to their website, http://www.oculusis.com and read about it. Go to the Mexican link at the top right of the page and see what it can do to diabetes sores on the foot. I order mine here and order 4 bottles where shipping is free. http://www.medi-vet.com. They are great to work with.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear of your trouble and I am right there with you. Will be two years this week that my sore opened after being a bruise from cushion going flat. Have not been on here for a while so I am catching up on what has been going on.

I have been using Miracle Mist on my open sore since early last spring. I really helps but the small the open area gets, the drier my needs to be to heal so we are holding it right now. I am down to a very, very small slit and am getting up 2 hours a day now with oressure relief every 20 minutes for 5 minutes. It seems to be working and I love that stuff!! It started my wound healing again after a 2 month stand-still.

Also will pass along another thing that we do on any red or irritated areas that are not totally open. Mix a cream of 2/3 hydrocortizone creme and 1/3 antifungus cream ( I use one with 1 % Clotrimazole from Walmart) and mix well. Store in sealed container and smooth it on any areas of break-down. This will clear up many areas that are red or chapped overnight for me. Has keept my butt in good shape outside the pressure sore for the whole time I have been/am in bed. We call it Magic Creme here. :dancegirl:

Best wishes and don't give up on the healing. But getting up even a few minutes a day gives you hope and a whole new outlook on life. so I hope it works for you as it has worked for me.
