Hey everyone,

So before I even started ACTUALLY dating my now boyfriend I really didn't know much (and still don't know a TON) about quadriplegia. I decided to do a quick search on google and although it sounds really dumb it was "dating a quadriplegic" or something to that affect. I found a book entitled "101 Reasons to Marry a Quadriplegic." I felt a little funny wanting to read it, because it's not like we were super serious, but it wasn't much and I figured I'd give it a shot.

Has anyone ever read this book? It's a super easy read - I was done it in less then an hour. It's more like a short story. Anyway, it was written by a women who met her husband after his accident that left him a quadriplegic. The book gave 101 reasons that both he and she came up with together, as to why to marry a quadriplegic. They told personal stories that corresponded with some of the reasons as well, which was really great. It was meant to be a realistic look at their lifestyle but they also wanted there to be a comedic side to it. I found it heartwarming, funny and emotional. I was really glad I read it.

I had the guts to tell my boyfriend about reading the book, but I didn't want him to get all freaked out. We laughed at a few reasons such as the wife only ever has to iron the front of his shirts. There were others we laughed at because they completely aren't true (for us) like the wife always gets to listen to what she wants in the car. (He is a MAJOR music hog, haha.) Anyway, I really enjoyed the book and thought I'd pass it along, or see if anyone had read it and get their thoughts.

The author was very strict in saying multiple times that she was in no way, shape or form mocking anyone with a SCI. They have struggled and continue to struggle every day, but they have found humor in their situation and wanted to share it with the world.

If you do an internet search for 101 Reason to Marry a Quadriplegic you'll easily find it on Amazon.
