Has anyone had the Mitrofanoff surgery? And if so what are your feelings toward it? I haven't had the chance to ask a person who has actually had it done. Your comments would be so helpful. For I am set for next month. Thank you.

YES, YES, YES. Get it done! If you're in good health, then I say go for it! I had it done, and it's the BEST decision I've made! I've had it for 5 years. The recovery was a month long, and was a little hard in the beginning, but after a couple weeks, I was perfectly fine. If you have any questions, just message me; I'd love to answer!

I agree with Beautiful. It really is the best surgery I've had done. Makes my life so much easier!

my best friend had this surgery in may and didn't make it. she told me they cut her from under her breast to her naval and it wasn't at all what she expected. she ended up getting an infection that killed her. so because of that i would pass on this surgery.

i'm sorry you are having complications. i hope they get sorted.

hi fellow gimps! i'm a c 6/7 quad and have been injured since 1986. i was in a roll over hydroplane accident and it took hours for the paramedics to get me out of the car in the pouring rain. that definately wasn't my day. but alas life goes on!

They didn't tell you Lovenox would be an issue? Isn't that a blood clot medication? I can understand the complications... it IS an invasive procedure and with that medication, my goodness. As far as Bev goes, I have no idea why they would make the incision there... that's strange. But she also was having problems before the surgery.

I'm not blaming the patients at all. Some people's bodies just can't handle this type of operation. I still would recommend this surgery to anyone interested in it, but would greatly stress you need to be in very good health and not taking medications that would prevent success.

I hope you start feeling better soon! Keep us updated; all this information is great for people who are looking into the procedure and info on it! :)

Wow, I never heard of an incision going above the navel. That is so sad, I am so sorry.
