Hi:

New member, first post. My husband (c5/c6) and I recently relocated back to the UK. Now that we're here in London, we're trying to organize morning care. We've started the social services process, and have interviewed several agencies. However, we're also interested in the possibility of hiring a private carer. Are there any UK papers, magazines, or websites that are the best for placing adds for personal carers?

Thanks

You can try: http://simpleneeds.co.uk/

I think this is the one a customer of mine has set up and was telling me about the other day. And it's a free service.
for UK residents - DisabledGear.com - the FREE-Ads website for 2nd hand disability equipment.

Hi there,

I need help in the morning and placed a small advert in my local paper. I had a huge response and completely, by luck got the most wonderful lady. She is amazing and i still cant believe my good luck in finding her. So, i would certainly reccomend placing an advert in your local paper, intereviewing and taking it from there.

Try the Lady magazine either online www.lady.co.uk under classified and there you'll find situations wanted under the jobs tab!
Or is internet fails get the magazine from places like WHS or other shop with more choice of magazines.
It's a weekly magazine coming out on tuesday.
Good luck!

Hi
It is not easy when you are first injured to sort carers out. we used an agency for a few years; but found them to be increasingly un reliable and they seemed to use more and more non uk staff. We managed to employ our own staff and i have had the same staff now for several years .

There are several national agency's in the UK but until you are sure what you need it might be best not to 'jump in the deep end' too soon.

I hope you get sorted with a care package as its very important to get it right, but it does not always work first time.

Feck ! That HAD to hurt !!!!

My daughter is looking into being a private carer after being made redundant recently. She was a senior carer in the home and I was just wondering what qualities/qualifications/experience you look for when choosing a carer.
Always live for today, love deeply, laugh often, and forgive easily. Life is too short <3
