I have broken and crushed my L2 vertebra 3 weeks ago.

After a week in hospital.
I am home with a back brace to wear when I can bear to wear it for short periods out of bed but it has to be taken off to lay down flat.

No one has told me what happens after the 6 weeks are up so the question I have is what next please.

Hiya Sinulae. Sorry to hear about your injury, but welcome to the forum. You will undoubtedly get more information here than from your medics. I can't help with your particular injury, but someone will be along soon with answers for you I expect.

It sounds as though you escaped serious injury to your cord, so the future is probably bright for you.

Thank you Greybeard,
Most UK medics are not very forthcoming with information so I am hoping you are right and someone can enlighten me.

I know this may sound like a silly question, but can you feel or control I guess from waist down? That will determine hugely how you proceed forward...

Sorry about delay had a friend die and then was upset as unable to attend funeral due to still recovering.

In answer to your question, yes I do have feeling and almost full control from waist down, tho having some bladder problems due to trauma.

I don't know about the UK but in the US the hospital you stay in has a social worker to help schedule any at-home problems and to schedule rehab after your home stay. I hope the UK does the same.

Good luck.
