I rather enjoyed how scooter companies are catering to "the growing rate of obesity"..... isn't that in a manner of thinking almost encouraging people to not get in better shape? Granted some obesity can be very "disability" related but for the hefty lazy truck driver??? Arrrrrrrrrg. Well maybe if this goes on accessibility will get better or more widespread??? I mean isn't that always how it works, what becomes a nation's fad is when things become available, versus the real need we may have for it?

IMHO mobility scooters, wheelchairs and anything else should only be given to people on production of the necessary certificates. However, something like this had to orginate in USA where I think they are all obese of their own making. Mind you, if the scooter companies can make a quick buck - I am sure they will keep on doing so.
My pet bug is not scooters but "disabled" parking bays where invariably able bodied park for pure selfish reasons. I have a blue badge for a good reason. It bugs me even more when I see "blue" badges for people who seemingly can run - that is a new one. I maintain the blue badge should only be given to people who are genuinely unable to use their legs. I know folk with badges who have heart conditions but they can load up roof racks, carry weights, etc, yet they have the blue badge.
My other gripe is in a car park in Glasgow the other day, all disabled patches were taken. There was no sign saying anything about parking so, I parked in an ordinary space and put money in the meter. Nae kidding, I was practically attacked by a traffic warden when I returned to my car - my crime - I put money in the meter instead of parking free. Now how the hang did I know that parking was free to disabled if it was not displayed. What the heck did it matter? To pay or not to pay - all I wanted to do was park my car. Personally, I would rather have an abundance of proper disabled bays and pay for my parking other places. 99 times out of 100 I dont park right outside where I am going despite having the badge. In the 18 years I have had it I have never abused the privilege.
Unfortunately, the ones that do, are the ones that dont require such a thing and they spoil it for us. Leading to abuse of mobility cars. These should be for genuinely disabled. Yet a neighbour has purchased a car for his wife - poor soul cannot walk - aye right! She uses a stick and can walk for buses to town. Anyway, her hubby uses the car to work. That should not be allowed.
I could go on but wont.
