Thinking of motorin' up there this spring to eat lobster, maybe do some fishing and camping. Anyone know of some good hotels/inns/b&b's in the $150 a night ballpark? Any must try restaurants? Breweries?

Shan is from Maine but she hasn't been on here in awhile. She's on my FB if you'd like me to hook yall up. I also have her phone number. She's pretty cool and likes to have fun. Sounds like I'm pitching her but that wasn't my intention. She would know alot of the local hangouts.

Most of my family lives in south eastern Maine ( Kittery, Wells, York, North Berwick) there is a fantastic little place in Kittery called Bob's Clam Shack, they are known for their lobster rolls. And Congdons (in Wells) is an amazing breakfast place with the most delicious home made doughnuts! There aren't many places to camp in that area, that I'm aware of, but there are a number of very accommodating b&b's.

I will look her up when we get closer to making that trip, thank you! :)

I'm bettin' my lady will be just fine with that. I've been told that when ever I get the urge to sleep outside with wild animals to just hand over the truck key and credit card and she'll come get me in the morning, lol....

Maine is awesome, I proposed to my wife in Acadia National Park. The National Park has a couple of campgrounds and they have a few accessible camp sites. Basically they are just right next to the bathroom buildings(which are plenty big for a manual chair). We enjoyed Bar Harbor (awesome lobster) which was fairly accessible most stores have a slight bump up to get inside, but we're only talking like an inch or two. There are carriage trails through the woods that you can wheel on. They are really pretty, the Rockefeller family owned the trails and put up these gorgeous gate houses. The only downside is that the National Park doesn't have showers, you have to leave and use a pay shower place, which does have an accessible shower stall(as long as you put quarters in before you hop in and are fast, if you run out of time it's hard to put more in from the shower). We even pushed on some of the hiking trails for a little ways, so we could get to an awesome view so I could propose!

Mount Desert Island is gorgeous and worth the trip and not to much of a challenge for someone in a wheelchair!
If you do go to the national park or ANY national park be sure to stop in at a center where they issue passes, if you bring something that documents a "permanent" disability they give you a lifetime pass to get into any National Park free, with guests (you still pay to camp). I've used mine all over the east coast! The NPS website offers more info on what type of document will work.

Sounds like she and I have very similar ideas of what "camping" should be like!!

I've been to Maine! It was beautiful this time of year, so many lakes! I honestly thought lobster would be a little cheaper since it's coming from the source but I didn't find that to be true. It was still really tasty and an awesome experience. I stayed in the little town of Camden and the hotel called the Lord Camden Inn. It's in a great location, right in the middle of their little down town.

I've lived in Maine most of my life.

I have a friend who owns one or more hotels in Old Orchard Beach. I'm pretty sure he could accommodate you at the rate you're talking about. Also, don't forget my rental house on the lake near Machias Maine – I PM'd you, check it out.
