I do my bowels manually I use my digits and I have noticed that hours after I'm finished I'll be getting like drainage which I think is mucus. This problem starting happening two years ago and it's almost everyday now, anyone know what to do? Could I be harming my bowel by doing it manually?

I doubt it. Mucus naturally lines the insides of your intestines. When you manually (forcibly) extract the feces from your bowels, you are pulling it, somewhat roughly, from the walls of your intestines and colon. Its natural that some mucus will drain as a result of this forceful disruption. Now how much is a different question. And of course, I am not a doctor and this is only my opinion.

Puzzling. Mucous problems are usually associated with using suppositories...

I got that for a while, then it stopped. City Girl has a similar thread (Mucus In The Stool) in which her Dr. suspects it's caused by hemorrhoids. I seem to recall other threads on this, so I think it's fairly common.

I didn't think mucus was a problem I thought and think it is a a good thing as I know once we are finished with the BM there is a bit of mucus at the end. In the earlies when I didn't wait for the mucus there were accidents. But now once there is a good BM and clear digit after two or three checks and I look for the mucus I know we are perfect for the day and all is clear.........

I have read from some medical posts that this is caused by too much laxatives. When I used laxatives, I experienced the same thing at the end of the bm. They said this was normal when using these laxatives and not to worry about it.

I hope this helps.

Hi There:

I'm glad you posted this because I just literally logged in to ask this same question. This happens to me after I do a bowel routine in the mo0rning. I do a routine on two evenings and I "never" have a mucus discharge. It is only after a morning routine. I think gravity has alot to do with it but there has got to be more to it. I know that there is a mucus lining in the bowel but this should not be coming out. If it was something to do with digital stimulation then why is it not happening for all bowel routine's. I'm lost here as well...does anyone have any further insight? The mucus discharge is embarrassing and it is very smelly! I have been in a chair for 22 yrs and this only started over the last year and a bit. I am with the original poster of this...please help!!!
