I realize even entertaining building such a piece of equipment might prove to be a bigger deal than I'm thinking but I'd really love to know if anyone has tried and been successful? Any do's or don'ts, good materials, or design layouts would be a huge help in pointing me in the right direction.

I put half inch plywood under my mattress. When I raise the head of the Bed all the way up, I'm almost about at a 45 degree angle, sliding down the bed and can feel my heart beating harder. Thats My 50 year old heart, in a body with a 30 year old SCI. I couldn't picture me being conscious if I was able to raise it further.

Good Luck ! :)

My bed also goes up and down which is great but I tried a tilt table in rehab and loved it. I was only able to make it to about 70deg before things got fuzzy! I know standing frames are a great way to put weight on otherwise unused joints and it's important to do so but I think the table is going to be a good start for now.

30 years ago I could stand up all the way on one in rehab. 29 years of not doing it. Those days are over!! I have to get up in chair slow, so not to get light headed.

It is good for you in a few ways. Hope your able to get it done some how!

Good Luck, it would really be healthy for you!!

I've tried just about every combination of searches I can think of with minimal luck. I get a couple decent pictures, at best. My next step will be to go to my rehab with my dad ( he's been volunteered to build it and be its first victim :) ) to get a good look and take pictures of the one I was on.

That post was actually the inspiration behind my crazy idea. Unfortunately, I think having that one shipped to me in Florida would be far more than I can think about.
