Okay, for years I have been the haircut giver. I'm not a beautician, but had a sister-in-law who was and I am very observant. So for most needs, both kids and my husband, dad and brothers, even some neighbor kids have come to me for haircuts and trims. If it was for something special, of course they would go and have it done, except for my husband, because it is too excruciating for him to go through all of that. For those of you familiar with our situation, it is pretty much out of the question for my husband to go somewhere and have to sit up for any length of time, especially after having to endure the ride just to get there.

Well he's been wanting his hair extra short and I can't go shorter than the thickness of my fingers so I made up my mind and went out and bought an electric haircut kit. Whew. Let's just say that it has sat in it's box for almost threeeeee weeks because I have been afraid to try it.

Guess what? I tried it! Not only was it sooo much faster than using a comb & scissors, it was just a wonderful experience all together. I have to say that my daughter helped when I got to the top half of his head....(my fears were still apparent)...but then I finished up and Voila! He looks so handsome!

I cannot tell you how great I feel about this. I was so worried I would mess it up and there we would be waiting for it to grow out, but it looks great and I am confident I can maintain it in the new style he likes very much.

So if anyone out there is wondering what to do about their guy's hair, I highly recommend this. It was so easy and relatively quick, so I did not have to have him sitting up for very long.

Wow, he looks great.

I've only ever had two haircuts - very long or very short ( there were some dreadlocks for a while but I class that as very long).
At the time of my accident it was very long and it drve me crazy.
The clippers were brought in and my wife went to work. This was just after the operation, before I was able to sit up.
The nurses rolled me onto my side and slipped an incontanance sheet under my head.
Zoom zoom zoom and the nurces rolled me to my other side..
So, your husband does not need to sit up at all if he is not up to it.

J
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me, "Smile and be happy, things could be worse." So I smiled and was happy and behold things did get worse.

clippers have been much used in my family for 40 years. Just bought a new one. Even though I go to a professional I use the clippers in between to tidy up my neck.
Look! It's a snail! It's a sloth! Able to creep short distances before lunch!

Oh thanks! I never thought of that because of the pillows. What a great idea!
It occurs to me that I could also use a hand vacuum as well to get the tiny hairs that might easily fall or be missed. Boy, just when you think you have things figured out there is always something new.

Gee whiz, I have just been using his regular electric razor on his neck. This new set I bought also come with a second smaller trimmer for tidying up and was much more precise for edging and sideburns. As for the clipper attachments, they also worked great on his beard that he likes to keep just on his chin. However, I will stick to the scissors for his mustache.

Anyway, this was also a completely new hairstyle, and in all the years we've been together, it is the shortest and I have never even seen pictures of him with his hair so short like this, so you can see why I was afraid to try it. So glad I did though, it is way different and I'm just lovin' it!

I've used clippers for years. I used to do my brothers and cousins hair and one day my dad asked me to do his. Now my dad is VERY particular about his hair and I refused as I'd have never heard the end of it had I done something wrong. He was very persistent and in the end I got him to sit down on the chair. I took the comb off, brushed and cleaned the blades and then took a big chunk out of the back of my dad's head... only then did I realise I'd forgotten to put the comb on and it was shaved right to the flesh! my mum and brother were standing watching me and saw from the look on my face that something had gone wrong. they doubled over in laughter and I have to colour in my dad's new bald spot with a back marker.. needless to say i never had to do his hair again!

I've used them for years, even cut my own hair a couple of times in the hospital, just put a torn open bin bag under may chair leaned forward and No 4 comb on the clippers and voila, all done.
Still do it now every couple of months although my "skinning" earlier in the year for charity went below a no 4 comb! all the way to the wood in fact.
