My name is Mark Harford, Iam writing to hopefully gain some advice on my condition I am a C4 tetraplegic injured in 1983 as a result of a motorcycle accident.
I have in the past 30 years suffered from aliments related to my injury but remained relatively well, until the past six years when it was discovered after a routine mri that a srinyx had developed between my C4 and C6 levels.
In the past six years this area has been shunted 3 times, most recent being two weeks ago.
The result being a successful shunt and the release of adhesions but my neuro surgeon informing of the condition of my spinal chord is deteriorating due to tethering.
For the past six years I have noticed both my respiratory function and what little movement I have been reduced, but the most difficult challenge I have is intense neuropathic pain and feelings of tightness running through my body especially in my thoracic area.
I have tried a selection of opiates and find that this family of drugs compromises my respiratory function and this accompanied by severe sleep apnea has caused some very serious situations including a respiratory arrest.
My current medications are as follows;
Lyrica 300mg bd
Cymbalta mane
Baclofen tds
Ditropan tds
Cardiprin mane
Annoying Syrinx
