Tom has a Quickie power chair with tilt mechanism. It says quickie 747 on the chair but I can't find any info on it anywhere other than the little booklet it came with. It has a little electronic display where the joystick is that shows how fast you're going or if you are tilted too far back to be able to drive. Since Last night the symbol is displaying as if the seat is tilted too far back and it won't let him drive. The seat is not tilted at all but we can't clear the error symbol. It is the weekend and all the service numbers we have just give answering messages telling us to call back on Monday. We found one technician kind of close to us but he also won't be in to work until Monday. I have been scouring the Internet trying to find a site that might have troubleshooting tips and hopefully help us clear it up ourselves...he's been stuck in bed since last night and he'll be stuck there until we can get a technician to come and repair it...if they will come (we are in a pretty isolated area). Does anyone have this kind of chair or does anyone know how to fix this problem. The symbol is a flashing turtle with the speed indication bars rippling. When you move the joystick, you get a symbol of a joystick. Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.
I don't have a quickie, but my invacare has had similar problems. There are mercury switches that sense how far the chair is tilted. I had my chair programmed to work despite being tilted, but I would guess your mercury switch has gone bad and is telling the chairs "computer" that it is in tilt mode. There is not much more I can do to help you other than to have the tech guy check those switches or program the chair to roll despite being tilted. But be careful, if someone bumps the controller while in tilt mode it is possible to turn them over.
Hope that help... Good luck...

My first instinct would be to disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then reconnect so that the computer has to reboot. I haven't had this problem and am not a technician so please don't completely trust this advice! It's something I've done on other electrics for other problems.

Yes, I work with computers and that was the first thing I tried...but after I plugged it back in, it was in the same state...so either it still thinks something is wrong(and it may be) or there's a battery backup inside the joystick. Well, he's getting some needed time off his backside so that's a plus and hopefully there will be some help tomorrow. Thanks for your input.

Thank you, we'll probably wait for the real tech's to help instead of messing with it.
