On Tuesday after our Charley's breakfast in Paia we decided to do a little wander adventure by wheeling down Hana highway to the old Budhist church oceanside, weirdly there is an old new englandish Protestant church right across the highway. Completely sidewalked with crosswalks. On the way we passed a few funky shops and then saw a beach access sign down a paved side road. We decided to take a quick look and it was good and then it transitioned into a dirt path that we decided to continur down, pretty easy maybe one 4 inch bump that Amy helped me back down. Continued on a bit and then it opened up to the ocean. This was a real cool surprise, a wide enough dirt path allong the ocean and you ended up on a grassy bluff approx, 25ft over the ocean breaking on to the black lava rock. The bright white against the black and the multi-blue green colours of the ocean and tidal pools in the splash zone. This wander adventutre turned out much better then our Twin Falls adventure last year. As we sat there by ourselves watching everything we notice a turtle and with the height above them you could really see them. They were big sea turtles problably 4-5 feet long. In the end we saw 3 turtles feeding and diving in front of us. We stayed there a long time and then decided to finish the wander and go to the budhist church. This in itself was a fun adventure as we killed another hour plus before we had to continue errands. I'll be adding this accessible beach walkway onto my website www.mauiaccessiblecondo.com or my google map
http://maps.google.c...1e760b6e69&z=10 soon. There is link to my google map on my website also if this link doesn'tand the googlemap is pretty good. My 6 year old nephew will be here for christmas so we'll be taking him on the accessible Sugar Cane Train ride so I'll be posting on that adventure soon. E-mail me at info@mauiaccessiblecondo.com if you have any questions. Aloha Bruce
