Hi,

I'm looking for an an accessible villa in Europe, anywhere will do as long as it's warm! The villa needs to be quite well set up for a high level injury, idealy with a hoist and electric bed and a large roll-in wetroom. The other really important factor is somewhere that is within walking distance of bars/restaurants...even if it is a 15min walk that's ok!

Can anybody recommend anywhere, or a good website for finding places?

Thank you :)

Have you ever been to or looked at

http://www.ouricodomar.com

in the algarve portugal ?

owned and run by a british c4 complete tetra and his ex-spinal unit trained nurse wife who will do care if required.

Hoists, roll in showers, adapted vans, heated pool with easy sling hoist access. Not sure about the electric bed.

I've been a couple of times, Simon is a total gentleman and both are very experienced with both the holiday side and the high level tetra side.

Have a peek at their web site and email them any questions.

I've looked at their website a couple of times but always got the impression that it's quite remote? Being able to walk to nearby bars and restaurants is an important factor for us, so this has always put me off their villa.

You are right it isn't in a built up area with lots of bars etc, but then again most villas with pools aren't.

Theres a bar a couple of mins walk away and a fab restaurant about 5 mins walk called 3 wonders.

http://www.3wonders....asp?language=en

We have kids so a bar is less important than a pool but they have an adapted van (which for me is a godsend) and we went out in that to have a walk along the beach.

I'm sure if you had any specific questions Simon would help if you emailed him.

I've not managed to find another pool with a hoist that could take a sling. I found it great - in the pool for a while - hoist out onto a beach bed at the pool side keeping sling under me, then heat up and get back in easily for a cooling dunk. That really made my holiday as I can't use those horrible plastic chairs in usual pool lifts (without damaging myself or my carer). Now on a cold day I'm dreaming of a warm pool :-)

Hi
I'm the owner of Ourico do Mar, I can confirm there's a café/small shop afew minutes walk away and a nice restaurant 3 wonders a 5 minute walk or so. We also have a large supermarket walkable though the return journey is uphill. Dont forget we loan you our adapted Berlingo, seat 4 plus 1 wheelchair user to get to Loule (5 minute drive) or elsewhere on the coast, a 25 minute or so trip. Failing that, my wife can drive you in our larger accessible van seating 6+1 wheelchair user or 5+2 wheelchair users (this is an extra charge). We've been here 10 years with many happy and returning clients.
Hope this helps
Simon
