It is clean, no infection, etc. but dr thinks it is time to check into a second flap surgery to add some muscle and tissue to the healed surface so that there will be a network of blood vessels between the outer skin and the bone. Hopefully, that would allow me to be up longer and keep blood flow to the skin. He believes that without circulation there, I will never be able to be up in my chair for a whole day like I was before. And, right now it is infection free and in good shape - so that is the time to do this, Dr. says, while we have maximum healing conditions.
Anyone out there who has had a second surgery for this reason? How did it go and what were your results? Was the time to heal as long as the original surgery? I realize that before I had the huge hole and the infection there but two more years in bed is not what I want to do with my life right now. All help would be appreciated.
