Hi Wheeliebear,
I only really know what is going on in Canada, but it's a very scary topic and I'm glad you noticed, We all should this is a big deal.
As I understand it, as I have been told by my GP and pharmasist, the influence is coming from the U.S., the DEA in particular. To stop medications on their restricted drug list, from being lost, sold, or miss-used. There is stuff online but who know's the source.
I recently had to sign a sworn document to that effect in my G.P.'s office. That I will not loose, sell, trade,or misuse my medications, I will not buy tylonol, 222's etc or any other medication's, so that I can take it with my medication. I signed or he could not perscribe.
I have to now sign every-time I get my perscriptions, they are branded with the letter N. This for some reason includes testosterone which, I've had to take since my injury as I do not naturally produce sufficient anymore. My girly voice isn't pretty.
Many Dr's and pharasist's will no longer Treat us or pharmasist's dispence to us. They have to go away and take special courses in order to do so. They risk the following:-
They, as have we, lost the right to privacy, the police no longer need any reson to raid their, and our homes and business's, without the requirement of a warrant, and have the right of search and seizure. The G.P.'s and pharmasist's have to keep our files seperate in a plain sight location, or risk the loss of all patient files, if the Cop's pay them a visit.
I am/was a professional engineer, I have no criminal record other than many speeding tickets, I do leagally collect old 70yrs+ guns, so I am now in double trouble.
But have no reason to be treated like this,is my point, it's anyone who takes any of the on the list med's, most if not all of us.
I fear going to a emergency room, I recently had a heart attack and treated myself rather than deal with all of the shit that would flow down the pipe, especially if I'm unlucky enough to get the wrong doctor.
I am now on a list that the can cop's access, luckily for me at the moment I still have a driving license. Regards Ian

Ian,
I agree, the situation is deplorable and contagious from the USA to other countries. Of course, the illegal drug trade is also deplorable and actually destroying the stat apparatus in Mexico and maybe other countries. I guess you could say it is true of the USA. Current reactions make things worse, and there is no educated, involved public to change things.
My 90 yr old father has to sign to buy the nose spray he has used for 40 years, no longer OTC! All because the drug can be used to make meth. Yet the meth trade is healthy and unaffected by such silly practices.
McWriter loses a day a month getting her hubby's prescription filled!
I really do not know how to combat this trend. It seems the regulations are made without public review. Are you up to researching the problem for us all?
