Hello everyone! I have been making Youtube videos for awhile now and figured it's about time to share them here. I am a T1 complete paraplegic a little over 2 years post-injury from Columbus, Ohio. Just like everyone else, I have had to figure out ways to do things through a lot of trial and error. About six months ago, I started documenting how I do certain transfers and activities as well as what modifications I made to my new to my home, car, and motorcycle. I also discuss some other SCI-related topics such as Intrathecal Baclofen Pump therapy. My hope is to make it easier for others who may have had a recent injury to adapt to their new lifestyle. I currently have 15 videos but I continue to make new ones whenever I have the time and a topic.

Feel free to drop me comments and suggestions for future topics. Also, if you have any advice on an "easier way" to do something, I'm all ears. :D

Hi Bkizz

I have just saved this information to my favourites. As I work in a school, I may be able to educate students about spinal cord injuries. Thank you very much. It is a great aide to use.

Great videos! Good to see you getting things done on your own and not needing help. Now you need to get into sports!! :)

Referring to the Car Transfer, I noticed in this video the guy puts the chair up against the door before he puts the wheels on instead of the door opening. My chair folds sideways, so I think this might work better for people with chairs like mine. Even though I'm an incomplete I like to use this method during the winter when there's snow on the pavement.

Now if I could just find a used Infinity G35! Thx for the videos.

It's good that you've done those vids. :spcool: I've heard some horror stories of people getting sent home with little to no skills in how to use their chair. That & you being a T1 gives a lot of lower level injuries something to look up to...."If he can do it so can I!" sort of thing.

In some ways I feel like rehab let me down. I was only an inpatient for 3 weeks before they sent me home. Then, maybe 15 sessions of outpatient rehab. I learned a lot on my own through trial and error.

Hi Brian

Thanks for making these video's, they were great to watch. I've saved them to my favourites as I still stuggle with floor to chair transfers (have to work on my strength). Also will have to save the pennines, as I would love one day to have one of those standing wheelchairs. Just to feel myself upright for the first time in so long, I think would be amazing. Anyway, thanks again for providing a wonderful source of information.

hi Bkizz,

I've watched a few of these vids. Thank you; I found them very helpful and no doubt I will go back to them when I need to. I am very much still learning the best ways that I can do things and I do think if you can do it and make it look so easy so can I.

Thanks,
Broc

I came across you on YouTube prior to seeing this post. I enjoy your videos.

I have my own channel as well, if you or anyone else may be interested. If you scroll down my videos you will see a lot of physical and occupational therapy stuff. Maybe some will find this helpful or provide ideas.
