Hi,

Since being discharged in Autum last year, I have had no physio or anything at all.

I have a nurse that comes occasionally and someone to get me dressed. Other than that its down to family and thats it.

I cannot stay in my chair for long and have not felt fresh air in months.

Is this the norm is this what I have to look forward to for the next 30 years!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jono,

Where are you in the world, are you in the UK, or US?

Also, what level are you?

Simon.

Hi Jono,

It's always hard when you first come out of hospital, and it will take a while to build your stamina up so you can stay up longer in your chair. One thing I will say, and that's don't give in to tiredness whilst in your chair, if you feel tired, try and stay up, as this will build your stamina up.

As you are a C7, you should be doing pressure lifts on a regular basis to keep your skin healthy, so there shouldn't be any excuse for going to bed really except due to tiredness.

Coming out of hospital in Autumn has to be the worse time to come home, as it's always cold and raining, and generally quite depressing, I know, I was discharged in the month of December.

Once the weather gets warmer and sunny, I'm sure you will get out more, I generally don't get out much at all in winter, but come summer, you can't keep me in, and I'm a C5/6.

Have you joined the Spinal Injuries Association or Backup?

The SIA has people you can talk to and give you ideas on getting out and about, and Backup runs trips to help you get out as well. Their websites addresses are below.

http://www.spinal.co.uk

http://www.backuptrust.org.uk

I hope this helps, and trust me, it will get better!

Regards

Simon.
