I borrowed a roho from seating place. I used it for a month and was never able to get comfortable. I played with the air thingy in the front constantly. I also didn't like that you needed the pump and it is very heavy.

Bottom line from my point of view is I know a lot of people who use roho and love it. I think it very much depends on whether you are a complete or incomplete. I also think that it is very hard to find the right cushion so if you can borrow from local place do that.
I know I will always have a seat:)

there are Roho mattresses out there and from what I understand that insurances will pay for them if you have a Dr.'s perscription.

Well saying "ROHO" is like saying Chevy or Dodge.

ROHO makes several models the most popular are the ROHO Quattro Low-Profile or High-Profile.

I have the ROHO Quattro HP or high profile. I really don't find it to be any heavier than the foam/gel combos. I DO find that those individual cells/air pockets allow BETTER air circulation to the skin on the ol back side. Yes there is a hand held pump that you attach to pump up the cushion...and although I can see that as being a problem for someone who's hand strength isn't all that great but aside from that; I've put the pump in my purse, in the inner slot (where you'd put a map or directions etc.) of the inside of the car door, glove box....it's not that big an object. To ME it was well worth the almost $400 we spent on it...and no like many we do NOT have a lot of $ floating around.

The ROHO Quattro isn't for everyone so if you have the opportunity to go to a dealer & try out different types of cushions is the BEST way to go. :specool:

Are you looking for a bed or a seat cushion? Take a look at the Roho webpage and you will find their full line of products. They do have several products of both seat cushions and air bed mattresses. I have had an alternating pressure bed for over 7 years and never a problem with a pressure sore or even a red spot. I got my original equipment after my wreck from my insurance company. When I had to replace the mattress a few years ago, I had to pay for it out of my own pocket. But, my wheelchair company purchased it and I was able to pay them their cost on it so that helped a lot. And, Roho was able to repair my old one so now I have a backup mattress for my bed.

Hope that helps you some.

oh I forgot one more thing to consider. My husband and I bought a Temprapedic. The bed has been a blessing because we are able to sleep in the same bed, before he had a hospital bed and I slept in a different bed. Being a C4-5 he needs to raise his head and legs up from time to time to aid in digestion and to help him catch a good breath. We have the adjustable one with the 9 inch legs that will allow me to put the hoyer lift under the bed. We also got the waterproof pad and the cordless remote. You've seen the commercials, they have a 30 year warranty and sleeps like a dream. It's also much cheaper than a standard Roho mattress overlay.

I have a ROHO 4" high profile and I have 2 Jay Gel 2 deeps and I love them both. By far you receive two different feels or lets say two different cushions totally. The Jay gel 2 deep has a more stable feel as it doesn't have the honey comb style, so high level people may feel more stable on a gel type cushion. Now the ROHO I will tell you hands down gave me the best pressure mapping when I was testing both out, with very low pressure numbers on my pelvic bone area as I was sitting. I healed a stage 4 tailbone sore in 4 months once I switched from the Jay Gel. Now after I'm all healed I switch right back to the Jay 2 Gel Deep for the reason of more support. I've had great luck with both but if you fighting any type of pressure sore, do the biggest and best thing for your body and go get pressure mapped some were. I not only could save you months of healing time but maybe even your life if your wound takes a bad turn in the healing dept. In fact I have a Roho 4’ high pad that is 18”x 16” with the pump I would send to someone who really needs the cousin and you could try one out before buying one or I would even sell that one for a real fair price.

Hope this helped a little,

My name is Danielle Boenisch and I work for The ROHO Group.

The ROHO Group does sell mattress replacements and mattress overlays. You can find our products on our website at http://www.therohogr...sses/index.jsp. The mattress overlays use the same interconnected air cell technology that is used in ROHO Cushions. The nice thing about the overlays is that you can use it in your home and just put it on top of your existing mattress, so that you don't have to buy a whole new bed.

The mattress replacements and mattress overlays can both be covered by insurance in the US if you qualify. You can speak with your clinician for more information, or you can email me at online.relations@therohogroup.com.

@schanz0 Thanks for your comments about your experiences with a ROHO Cushion. You might want to look into the ROHO® Hybrid Elite® Cushion that combines the best of both worlds: it has a foam base for added stability, but has ROHO air cells in the sensitive areas for continuous protection and prevention. Here's a link to the product page on our website: http://www.therohogr...te_cushion.jsp.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email me at online.relations@therohogroup.com.

willowt,

As suggested by McRobb, your post could be understood to mean more than one type of product (i.e., a cushion or a mattress). If you are seeking an air-type mattress, then there are some air-type mattresses exhibited on the Ease Cushion website that are conceptually similar to a Roho cushion structure.
