Hi!!! Just wondered if anyone can help! I'm 2 and a half yrs post accident. Prior to my accident I suffered from minor ibs- so my bowels were somewhat sluggish!!! I have been using peristeen pretty much since discharge on a friends advice. Initially I did it every three days as that was what my friend did. My consultant initially was reluctant to prescribe it as apparently the long term effects for a "young" person are not known. (flattering as I am mid 30's!!!!). Anyway I was struggling, both with having absolutely no result, and embarrassing gas! For the past two weeks I have tried it every day. It is quick, no more than 30 mins - and very effective. My only worry is that another friend who also uses it every day, suffered a burst colon this summer. They didn't relate it to peristeen and he is back using it every day- but I am somewhat suspicious!!! My question I guess- for those of you who use peristeen - how often do you use it- and for how long have you done this!!!!!

Many thanks. C x

Hey cas, I use mine every other day regardless of the result and I use about 600 ml of water, I started everyday like I got told but my the step to every other day and it's ok but I still spend awhile on the toilet, duno if it's just me but your supposed to give it 30 mins, then I Digstim for about 15 mins, depending on what and how much you eat I guess determines how often you do it, before my accident I don't think I went to the toilet everyday so I guess I could go 2 days in between, I've been using it for about 6 months now so I'll see how I go, hope this helps

Every fourth day for about a year,, no real problems unless I get a bad piece of fish or a case of the flu,, then every day as a precaution, for a week. I really can't complain, and I'll keep using it till they stop selling it to me.
