So it's that time of year, at least where I'm living now, where it snows constantly and doesn't get above 40 degrees F. Every morning I wheel from my apartment through the ski village, on roads and sidewalks covered in snow, to the actual ski mountain where I have to wheel across a bunch of snow to get to the gondola I take to work. Basically I couldn't do it without gloves. But gloves that are warm enough for the cold and snow are waaaayy too slippery.

I know there's tons of gloves with grips but I put off wearing them for awhile. Until I caught my eye on my fiance's pipe gloves. Pipe gloves, for those not versed in freestyle ski terminology, are gloves with the entire palm covered in rubber. This is to allow skiers (or snowboarders) to go in the half pipe and throw tricks that involve grabbing the half pipe or rail or whatever fixture with your hands.

So far they've been amazing. They come in really cool designs and colours so I've never felt like I'm wearing "wheelchair gloves" if that makes sense. They're also designed for the snow so they have great grip and are relatively warm and comfy.

Just thought I'd pass this discovery on.

Here's a good site if you're interested in a pair but don't have a local ski/board shop to go to. http://www.backcount...and-pipe-gloves SierraTradingPost is also another good outdoors discount online store I love to shop with, but Backcountry.com is king for ski stuff.

My gloves (a little worn out on parts of the palms but still great!)

Oh those look great too! I love North Face stuff. I think I just love the pipe gloves because of huge grippiness of them when I have to wheelie through the thick snow. Also I think 90% of my wardrobe is in various shades of neon and they match pretty well.

I love North Face stuff too! If only they weren't so expensive!

Oh I know! A really good friend used to work at the main North Face flagship store here and would hook us up with all sorts of cool and free NF stuff. I still treasure my camelback I got from him. I also picked up a fuzzy black NF jacket at our after work bar last season when no one had claimed it for awhile. Doesn't fit exactly right but I still love it. I used to use their tagline in papers in high school, "Never stop exploring". I wrote a lot of papers about rock climbing, skiing, etc. lol

And you're thinking of coming to Perth to live?
Way too boring here
where you are sounds much more fun

At least you won't be needing those gloves

My fiance is going back to Perth to finish up at Curtin in March when his J1 visa is up (the US got rid of the H2B visa). I'll be going with him or going in April in May depending on how much work I get subbing in the school district here. I was born in Canada, a 500 person farm town in rural Ontario, about as boring as it gets. I moved to Colorado when I was really little and have lived in the mountains ever since. Don't get me wrong, I know how lucky I am growing up right outside Vail, CO, but the area, called the Vail (or Eagle) Valley, is kind of a bubble. I lived down in Denver, the big city, for awhile and like it there too. But I really did love living in Perth. We were in Como and it was great to get to my job in East Perth. I also absolutely love Cottesloe. When you grow up with winters below 0 F, the beach and nice weather are wonderful! But after Perth, my fiance wants to move out east to Melbourne. We'll see!

I love seal skin gloves. They are thermal , waterproof amd have grips on the palms. Expensive ish I think at about £25. But worth it!

Your fiance sure has the right idea moving to "the worlds most livable City" Melbourne they say. Reasonably accessable too which helps.
