I juat got a little pressure sore before the holidays and I need some advice. I want to participate in the holiday festivities but it means a 4hr drive and being up in my chair all day. The alternative is staying home and missing out but less time in the chair. Will 2 days up all day and the car rides be too much for a developing sore? I don't want to miss it but i don't want to br foolish health decision either.

Pressure sores can be pretty sensitive. I recommend staying off of it.
One must have a strong will to make it.

You say lil sore....And developin'......How long you had it?.....Is you gonna be the driver or passenger?.....Do you gots a cusion to put on the car seat?

Do you gots a baddass cusion on yer chair? (like air type) Is the sore healin'?

If just one of the above items is outa line, I would stay home.....Bitchin' about my sore and rollin' around in bed out of my mind.

But that's just me. And i'm very prone to sore's.

If you drink like me then ain't no way you gonna be doin' no pressure reliefs.

Yer call Billy....I'll support ya no matter what. (Yeah I know yer name ain't Billy)

You could always ride in the back seat, laying down the whole way.. and if its a family Christmas event, there's no reason you can lounge around on the couch.. go lay down in the back bedroom for a bit.. or whatever.. I'd definitely put one of those derma bandages on it before attempting any of that..

Hey Lucid D,

I had a wound in June11 which was size of 50p piece (a bit bigger than a quarter) looked like a blister, well that's how it started out. OK so it's now Dec11, I've missed out on summer and essential rehabilitation (I'm 10 months post hospital discharge) time has been spent lying on my bed and although it is smaller, it is still there!

There must be a cause; if it is pressure related then deeper tissue will be affected, if it is trauma and superficial if you don't keep of it it may go the same way, either way, and I suspect in your heart of hearts you know this, you need to keep off it until it goes. That will be the quickest and safest way to deal with it. If you do go to attend the celebrations;

1. get it checked by a tissue viability nurse
2. make sure it is dressed properly
3. ensure you sit on a pressure relieving cushion
4. do lifts to relieve pressure hourly (a consultant told me recently that 2 full minutes per hour is sufficient (obv this will be difficult if lifting yourself but you can lean to the side)

I have had to do long journeys for hospital appointments and that is what I did. If I could turn back time (aside from not getting injured in the 1st place) I'd have lay in bed June11 until it went and got up for no man, woman or thing until it went

Hope this helps,
Broc
