I'm sure you've been asked a million times. But, I can't seem to find the answers I need online.
I have a significant other who sustained an SCI a few years back. I love him to death. I'm not so much worried about pregnancy but curious. He doesn't seem to think he can have children, but what I DO know is this. He can sustain an erection, and he can ejaculate....but his impression is that he has low sperm count, but I don't feel like that completely excludes him from making children, just that it may be more difficult. I'm guessing he has an incomplete injury as he still walk around and works.
Any suggestions would be great or any information would also be of help...again, not that I'm overly concerned. I'm just curious with what you have been through and the possibilities and whether it's something I should ever consider with him etc....not that I wouldn't want to, just don't know if yet is the time....but would like information anyways! Please and thanks very much!

Hi Sparkyles,
Hoping you're well.
The short answer is yes - if this is what you want, it is possible. There are a lot of people on here who had kids post-injury. You're lucky that your S.O. can ejaculate - this saves you the issue of having to do this manually.
He may or may not have a low sperm count - it varies from person to person. Then again, there are able-bodied guys who have a low sperm count. There's two ways to test this:
1) Send him to the doctor (or take a sample!) and have it tested.
2) When you're ready to have kids, start having unprotected sex and see what happens :-)
It might be as easy as it would be for anyone else, or you might end up having to work with a fertility clinic. But know that YES - if this is what you want - there are ways to make it happen :-)
Cheers,
K

Well, if he can cum, he can have kids. Maybe a low sperm count is his line for not needing to wear protection, but it's not a very realistic one.
Thank you for the responses! I just was curious as this question because he's told me that he doesn't think it'll ever happen. Amd we have been active for about 2 months...and we don't use protection, and I am not on the pill. So, im not worried like I said, but just recently started wondering if it is possible because he can ejaculate...doesn't ever i have otseem like a lot, but still there none the less. I have children from a previous relationship so I know im pretty fertile and I also know my cycles really well. We've been using vbs as of lately. We discovered it was pretty nice so idk if that helps any. Anyways, there's a big spew in a nutshell.
