Glad to hear it Scott,,, Ive talked to several people who have used the Excalibur and really think highly of it. I have a Ten Point and mine is of the compound variety,, I have heard that the recurve style is quieter than mine,, but I've never had the opportunity to hear them side by side,, so I guess it's pretty subjective for me.

Did you get it in time for the WV deer season? I didn't get the chance to do any bow hunting this year,, but I did get a buck in rifle season,, and I have a doe tag left,, so I may go out some time this month with my bow. We have a late doe season, here, that runs to the end of the month.

I haven't received it yet. The winner was announced Sunday. I tried hunting with my old crossbow (cheap one i bought on ebay) and with my shotgun, but didn't see a single deer while I was hunting. Our (WV) hunting season ended on the 31st of Dec. I would have gotten one for near certain, but I couldn't get to where the site was. I'm going to try and buy a small tow trailer and maybe a used 4x4 atv so that I can be transported to more hunt sites. I even had the idea to turn the trailer itself into a blind to hunt from. Next year I plan to be more prepared. I sold my 12 gauge to buy a rifle. The way my mount is set up, it was too much recoil. I was hoping to put meat in the freezer but until next season, it'll have to come from the grocery store.

Good luck on upcoming hunts

Scott and Tsh,, since you guys are both hunters,, you might be interested in this. There is a group of people in Wyoming, that put on a guided antelope hunt every year, for disabled people. You have to get an application, on line, and I suggest writing a little extra on the back, about how much this hunt would mean to you,,, you know,, ham it up a little.

It's called Helluva Hunt, and it's in Douglas , Wyoming. They take 15 people a year. I got to go in October, and it was a blast. The weather is usually good when the hunt is scheduled.

If you are interested,, you need to get your application in pretty soon as I think they do their picking in Feb.

What a sweet lookin crossbow, that should help you bag a point or two Scott...them deer be awiatin, go gettem...deer jerky is quite yummy...I'd be happy to send you me address if ya have any spare bambie ya might part with...the only bambies we have out here in SoCal are of the bikini type, and they don't take kindly to bein roped down on a hood of our trucks; the screemin gets kinda annoyin also, but hey, sport is sport...happy huntin

I hope so, I didn't see any this year, but wasn't able to get to prime hunting areas... I plan to have that sorted soon tho.

Sounds like a great hunt Ed, but I wouldn't trust my van for more than 50-60 miles from home, let alone 1200-1500. I need to win a van contest now. lol

Jerry, if I lived by the sea, I'd sell my weapons and buy some charm to woo the bikini clad dear. If I can get get my full quota of game this coming season, there will be plenty of jerky to go around.

Sounds like a fine line between not bad and just plain bad. I guess if I were hunting it for meat I'd go for a doe or a pre-or-post rutting buck. My dad use to do taxidermy and the one antelope he did smelled nasty. Unless I strike it rich, I'll never get out west anyway. Sure would like to get an elk though.
