Just purchased this lil blaster the other day, making arrangements for payment/delivery right now....

Anyone else have any experience with the Ruger 77 rimfires, or the .17HMR? I'm hoping this purchase will lead to some amazing pots of rabbit stew or plates of fried squirrell, biscuits and gravy....

That is a pretty thing, Tsh,, I don't know about this Ruger,, is it a rotary magazine? I have a 1022,, and that little bugger will shoot. I've a buddy with a .17 with a thumbhole stock. Can't remember the manufactrer,, but he has surely reduced the ground hog population around his yard. I think his total is around 20 or so for 2011,, and he only shoots from his back porch.

From his telling it,, he can pick which part of the head to hit, from about eighty yards. But,, then,,, he's been known to stretch the truth a bit.

Yeah, it uses the magazines of the 10/22 with the receiver of the M77, and I hear with some tinkering they can shoot < 1" groups at 100 yards off of a rest. I had a heavy-barreled 10/22 that, combined with a 16x Sightron and Wolf match ammo, would shoot the occassional dime sized 50 yard group. The barrel was a Green Mountain 18" .920 straight taper....

I'll put something similar on the .17HMR as funds allow.

Had a 17hmr for a few years before recently selling it to a coworker. Started out as a K77/22 VMBZ but converted to a 17 with a Volquartsen carbon barrel and Boyds thumb-hole stock. I do miss it, worked great for 200+ yard shots on squirrels with a Viper 6.5-20x50 riflescope.

Great little round!
