I am a T4 paraplegic with severe incontinence of the bladder. I take ditropan (gen) and I seem to always be wet now. I am so frustrated and upset not to mention embarrased and worried @ other people smelling me. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Not much info here for any of us to go on. Are you using some kind of collecting device? Are you male or female? How long have you been SCI? What have you tried that does not work...?

Sorry about that. I am female have been SCI for 8 yrs. At first I had an indwelling catheter for @ 2 yrs then learned to self cath. I was doing pretty well w/ the self cath and oxybutynin. Last couple of yrs seems to just be getting worse. I am taking oxybutynin xL 20mg twice a day. I was on vesicare 10mg for a short time but that just made it worse. When I cathed I was always wet and didn't get much out. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. :blushing02:

I'll leave simpler, practical solutions to those here who know better than me. But you might also consider checking if your bladder is causing any pressure problems on your kidneys.

One reason your bladder may be firing too frequently for comfort is that it is over-active (obvious) and that can lead to thickened bladder walls and a smaller capacity and that in turn can put dangerous pressure on the kidneys. In such a situation, it can be fixed with a bladder augmentation (enlarges bladder).

This is serious surgery and I'm only mentioning it so that you can appreciate that if simple solutions don't work, there are realistic options further down the track.

If the problem is a weak sphincter then there are also options to explore. You're best discussing that with a urologist.

Hello shrn,

You may want to consider some botox injections. I have not had this done but have read where most of the people have excellent results.

Good luck.

Hi Shrn,

I would recommend trying botox injections. I tried them for the first time two months ago. After the first lot i saw only a little difference and had them repeated six weeks later and this made a big difference, I combine this was 20mgm of regurin twice a day, and still have the very occasional leak, but all in all it has been a godsend.
