Last night my wife and I went to the movies to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and the theater had space for wheelchairs only on the first row. Well, we didn't want to sit that close so she helped me go up about 8 steps to the middle of the theater :emoticon-0165-muscle: . My wheelchair just barely fit between the rows, so we went to the middle and I transferred into one of the seats. It was very nice to sit next to her and watch a movie like normal. :specool:

We were actually the first ones in the theater, and it was nice to get the choice seats.

Glad you were able to work it out. Our theaters have the handicapped spots on the main floor, with about a third of the seats down, below, and two thirds above. They are actually really good seats. And they have them with wheelchair spots next to seats so you can sit with your partner. I'm impressed that you were able to get over to the middle of the seats. Those aisles can be really narrow.

We went with the kids and my in-laws over Christmas and watched "Courageous". Have you seen that Michael? It is SO good!! Anyway, I also transferred into one of the end seats and Jimmy put my chair in the back. About half-way through the movie I got to thinking, "What if someone takes me chair? I will be stuck here!!" A moment of panic and then the movie got exciting and I forgot about it. :)

My husband isn't lucky enough to be able to transfer into a seat....but we have found that if we go on Monday's to the theater in our town we are normally the only ones in the theater. They also have made the theater wheelchair accessible so the wheelchair section is in the middle. It's nice having the theater to yourself...I told him next time we go instead of seeing the Lion King 3D we should watch a grown up movie and make out like teenagers.....lol

I went with a buddy to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows and the theater was very accommodating, with wheelchair spaces 1/3 and 2/3 back. Good movie, btw. Better that the last one, imho. Can't wait to see MI: Ghost Protocol.

Last summer I went to a lecture series held at an old theater. I made the mistake of rolling about half way down. It was hard to keep the chair under control. Harder still to get back up the incline. After that I stayed behind the back row where two seats had been removed.

I last went to the movies to see Breaking Dawn (yes I know lol) and it was the first time my sister had gone to the movies since her sci.

We had our own private area right at the back, lots of room, the best seats in our opinion.

There are spaces at the front for chairs but the seats were better at the back.

We are going to see War Horse next :)

Some of our theaters have that seating setup also, just not the one we went to last night.

Haven't seen "Courageous" yet, but I want to. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

I am fortunate our movie theater is rather new and the handicap seating is in the center of the theater and it's set up is really very nice. I'm glad you're able to transfer. You made a situation that could have potentially ruined the night into a comfortable situation. Congratulations!

We have several large theaters around me and they have a combination of areas for wheelchair seating: at the very front, a few rows back, up one level, or in the very back. However, I went to a theater the other night and it was just regular seating where I would have to sit on the side in the walk way, and since it was a steep hill, I didn't want to do that. My friend just picked me up, haha. One of the many joys of being petite. :)

We found this theater called Cinepolis. It's a little pricey because it's supposed to be the "upscale" way of going to movies. You can reserve your seats, which recline, and they serve you food, which is actually very good. It's the most comfortable theater for my husband because he can transfer and then it's like sitting in a zero gravity chair for the movie. Cinepolis is a chain, but it may just be in Mexico and the San Diego area for now.

We have some theaters here that serve dinner and have comfy couches/chairs, but nothing quite as nice as that. It would make a good date night.

We have two complexes quite close to our house, in fact one is within wheeling distance. But both of them have stairs to get into the complex itself. Very disappointing, haven't been to a movie since my accident. Mind you, we could drive into the city and I'm sure we'd find some accessible one's, it's just so frustrating to be around the corner from one but can't get in. (And this theatre has tickets at nearly half regular prices too. We used to go there all the time.) :head_brick_wall-1:
