Hi All, I have reddness on the outside of my right ankle.as I always sleep on my right side although it is blanching fine. Im on an alternating Air matress & also wear a wool boot on the right foot.

But to be cautious I have been trying to sleep on my left side & now the inside of my right ankle is marking :head_brick_wall-1:

Its weird because my left ankle is directly on the bed & no sign of any redness. Has this ever happened anyone? Its like the ankle bone is more pronounced on the right leg in fact my right leg even seems abit thiner than the left leg agin can anyone relate to this?

Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

Is anything else possibly rubbing the ankle. Does your shoe have anything to do with it?

If you aren't accustomed to sleeping on the other side , it may not be as "conditioned" causing it to be alittle red. Do you use a pillow between your legs when you sleep? Try turning at least once during the night so that neither side gets too much pressure.

Can you wear a thicker sock to help pad your ankle?

Just keep a close check on both ankles!

Hi. I sleep every night on my side. One pillow between my knees. And one under my calves- that way my ankle bones are "floating" and not touching the mattress. If I don't have a pillow there then my ankle is red immediately. Xx

i was going to say to put a pillow between your legs so nothing will touch your ankles or knees.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the suggestions. I do put a pillow between the kness, maybe thee one under the calf might be good plan il try that.
I have been wearing soft padding the last few nights & its not bad now.

Its just pissing off when the inside/outside is getting red knowing the consequences of them progressing. I suppose once it stays blanching fairly fast im alright what do ye wreckon?

Thanks again!

Just keep watching them and as long as they are blanching you should be okay. I sleep with one leg bent and one leg straight with a pillow turned long ways under the straight leg. Sometimes I put a pillow under that foot as well.

Don't forget to check your shoes. Are they rubbing your ankles?

Hey goose, I have been keeping my ankle lifted with a pillow & its gone to pail pink so like u said just to keep an eye on it.

I was told in rehab to get my shoes/trainers a size bigger just to allow for room.

Thanks goose.
