Healthcare IT. The cool thing about IT is that every type of busines needs/utilizes IT. So theoretically I could go and work just about anywhere. I particularly enjoy healthcare because I am around people that know and understand disability well, and I take pride in the fact that my work is improving peoples lives. Plus there is a side of me that is interested in seeing what happens to people. I used to go through the heart of the ER every day because it was the most accessible route into the hospital. How interesting! In one day in 45 seconds I see a guy with his ear cut off, a kid that crashed his motorcycle, a puke (drunk) in the corner, a person with a sexual-related issue (I don't how it got there :icecream: ?).

There are a lot of subspecialties within IT as well. You can be the artist/designer to make everything look/feel cool, or you can be an analyst that works with customers on integrating IT into their business, or you can be a propeller-head that writes device divers for gadgets, just to name a few.

Good luck choosing and make sure you choose the right thing for you for the right reasons, something you really love AND where there are people you want to hang out with EVERY day. The top person/people in almost any field can make a lot of money. Choose something you love and become one of the best at it.

i think it'd be interesting at the least, and you'd get all healthy. :mfrlol: i'm guessing you wouldn't have to do stuff thats obviously dangerous or impossible or anything, because even pe teachers arent that cruel, but the majority of stuff your class do you can probably adapt to it and do it your very own special way :mfrlol: you could always give it a go and if you dont like it, pack it in i guess. you should always give everything a chance, it might turn out for the best. have fun deciding hehe

It's a honors class, just harder then regular that's all. You know what trig is right?

I went to school after my accident and earned a master's in counseling and social psych. Before my injury I was a head-banging pot-head working as an assistant manager in a pizza restaurant in Daytona Beach. I had 0 plans to go to college.

I am now a licensed mental health counselor and I currently work at my local center for mental health taking on all comers. Recently, I have been wrestling with the the idea of "specializing" in sci's and related disabilities.

I originally was dead set against it. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to observe AB counselors and pschologists working with individuals with sci's and other neurolgical disorders. There were so many situations, topics etc. where I feel I could have been more helpful.

That was by no means an epiphany. I have known since being injured (not immediately but through the years) that I could relate to others "of my kind" beter than an "outsider". I'm probably not the only one with horror stories about the psychologists or social workers they throw at you while you are healing/in rehab.

I'm leaning toward specializing if I can. I'm not in the position to uproot myself in search for imployment. I can commute but only within reason. I commuted an hour and a half while attending Purdue. That's probably the limit.
