I posted recently under Lasher Sports chairs about a UK Speedway bike manufacturer who also made custom Titanium wheelchairs.
I think I have even posted about them before but after 4 hours of racking my brains and searching I am now asking all of you for help.
I think they were in the Midlands or North of England, and these guys made chairs almost as an after thought as they had the skill and experience of welding Titanium and working with Jigs.

Come on you sleuths out there help this senile old (46) fool find this company again.

I await a slick response which will probably make me look stupid!

Hope someone can find them for you. And besides the more manufacturers there are out there, the end product ends up being that much BETTER because of the "competition" for our money.

How did you find the site originally, and how long ago was it since you last viewed it?

Is there any specific reason you want to view the site again?

It was probably 9 months ago. It just came to mind when I was responding to the Lasher thread and since then I've been racking my brains and Google (thanks Goose) to try and find it.
I was thinking about getting a another chair and remembered their chair looked good and it's good to support local business.
Do you have any aquaintences who may know of it or may be able to help find it?
Cheers,
Colin.

I saw that Trin, but I think they only produce the tubing.

I could be wrong.

You I know about RGK, have met the guys and tried a couple of their chairs too. Just last year I came across this company who kind of made chairs as a sideline, assume they may have made one for a rider who git hurt or something and thought why not continue if the y had the skills in working the metal and welding.
The chair looked good and I wanted to look at them again but I cant remember and have lost the link.

Let's see if this is who you are looking for!

I contacted Barry Briggs (www.briggo.net) who is a four time world champion speedway rider, as he also does a lot of charity work to raise funds to buy wheelchairs for injured speedway riders.

I had a response today from Nigel Leahy who is Barry's secretary, and I have had the following reply:

Quote

Hi Simon

The speedway network is a wonderful thing!

I have had three replies already including from Barry himself.

They are telling me that Track Plus in Bolton are makers of a titanium wheelchair it sounds like that is the one you have heard of.

http://www.trakplusengineering.com/

The contact details are

Trak-Plus Engineering Ltd
Unit 12 Pocket Workshops
Washington St
Bolton
BL3 5ER
Tel: 01204 521580

enquiries@trakplusengineering.com

I believe the person to speak to is David Lord

I hope that is helpful - I would be grateful if you could mention Barry's website as the source of the information and thanks to Barry Briggs, Gary Stead and Ian Younghusband for such a quick response.

Best wishes and good luck to all concerned

Nigel Leahy
Secretary http://www.briggo.net

Regards

Simon :)

Thanks Simon and all concerned, I'll get in touch and see if it's the same folks. I remember they had a link on their website to a section about chairs though.

Hi Colin,

Even if these are not the guys you were looking for, with speedway being such a tight knit community, I'm sure they will know who you are talking about. I'm sure there can't be too many speedway bike manufacturers who also produce wheelchair frames.

On a side note, this website has not changed since Feb 2011.

Simon.
