I know that you can buy them from Quickie - but are people really spending over $1000 for a battery? I tried having one rebuilt (there are many small batteries wired together in the case) but burned out the circuit board. Has any one had a battery rebuilt? I like the wheels but feel the battery is way over priced. Any alternative ideas?

Hi, yes, I was in the same boat, quoted $1200.- for a new battery from Quickie. In the end i paid app $550.- for a battery from Japan for the Yamaha JW2 (?) It's the same wheels, Quickie just rebadge the Yamaha. You need to have someone in Japan who can recieve delivery then post on to you, pain-in-the-but but your saveing a lot of money for an original battery.

My third battery was a repak job. It cost $350. Was ok but maybe because the cells (your right, there is 40 odd) were not as good quality it didn't last as long.

My 4th was a 24v 8aHr Li-ion bicycle battery, stored in my backpak and wired into the empty case (ie cut the 40 cells out and kept the case and electronics). I'd hoped this would solve all my problems but it doesn't, it works ok but electronics get confused and i don't have the range i shoup have.

I'm going to repak the repak and use both the Li-ion and repak job to get me thru the day. Batteries are the biggest let down, i love these wheels but not the batteries. I understand there is now a Li-ion option from Quickie, about time!

Thanks, I know that others have also tried rebuilding but for some reason or another it's not the same as a new battery. It makes no sense for a battery to cost that much. The Japan price is better but still high. I haven't heard anything about Quickie going li-ion but since e-motion does maybe they will. Will probably cost more.
