The on-line list, usually shows names of members, sometimes long standing members, who are viewing the threads, but who rarely if ever post anything.

Come on, you guys. Write something, even if it's just to tell us what a crap day you're having. We're probably having one too, so we'll have something in common to compare notes about straight away.

Once you've made that first move it quickly becomes habit forming and you will probably wonder why it took you so long to dip your figurative toe in the water. Posted Image

Now - get typing. We want your input. We want to know what makes you happy or makes you mad. We want to know what you can teach us.

So - if we can't hear those keyboards clacking soon, we'll send the boys round. OK?

So here I am, way past midnight (late for me anyway) and the keys are still clacking. Hooked I am, just as GB says - and I wouldn't have it any other way (except I wish I didn't get so tired)Join in the chat - we were all lurkers too at one point :)

GB, in due time...this old crip is laying low for the most part, nearing 4 yrs mostly in bed due to bedsores, it's getting old my friend, spirits are greying as are my ginger hair-n-beard, four white walls close in when 2 hrs a day in chair is all that's allowed; and half of that time is spent dizzy or catching my breath. The old Jer will be back, I'm just existing, catching my breath...healing, getting ready for better days...I doubt I'll surpass your posts it felt good out in front, feels okay deep in the flock, but I'll give it a go, when me soul is a bit brighter!

I'ts not a competition. Posted Image I had no idea of the number of posts until someone made reference to it.

p.s. -- There is absolutely nothing wrong with your soul, Jerry, my old mate.

p.p.s. -- In posting this thread, I was really addressing the host of "forum followers" some of whom are already members, and all the hundreds of "Guests" who don't contribute to the discussions here. I was not aiming this at the members who have hundreds, or even thousands, of posts under their belts. (or Zack Posted Image)

Surely all of you have views on the topics you read here. Why not share them? It's getting a bit stale with just the regular few taking part.

We need some new blood, so come on in and get involved. You won't regret it.

What I don't understand is why some people post threads asking questions of the forum members, then fail to respond to advice and/or questions people ask to gain a better understanding of the op's problem. I think its rude and inconsiderate since people have taken the time to offer their incite only to be ignored. If you want the 10 posts to be able to access chat just barage the word games instead of feigning interest in the forum, that is if you dont intend to follow up with threads you've started.

"You know who you are" YEP MOST OF US DO ALSO.

I'm glad this was brought up, I know some maybe are shy or just consider themselves better speakers instead of posters, BUT I'm going to say something that many of us suspect, and that is some of these "members" that are supposedly SCI or have family or friends that are injured just want access to Members Only to see what type of drama is occurring in our forum! Seriously find something better to do with your life!

I just realised I posted this in Members only so none of the "guests" would be able to read it anyway.

At least they wouldn't be able to read the last two comments that would be liable to stop them from wanting to join us. Thanks a lot Quadinva and Gunnslinger8. Posted Image

I'll jump in! I tend to stay mostly in the spouse/carer forum and even there I tend to lay low. Lately I have tried to get in there more and have been coaxing my husband to participate. Since he has been living with spinal cord injury for over 20 years I think he has something to offer, plus whenever I read a question and ask his input, he has some pretty good input! Being the spouse, rather than the one with the injury, I tend to feel like I don't have as much to offer as my husband and don't speak up too much.

Hi Spinner. You are missing so much by restricting yourself to just one forum. Nearly all the medical stuff discussed in the others has some relevance to most of us. Some of the other forums are just fun to be part of.

I'm betting that if you get your man on here, he will become hooked. You could try using the "View New Content" button on the first page to get all the latest posts from all forums and cherry pick from there.

I joined this forum whilst in rehab and still in such denial that it took me ages to even use my lap top to look up anything to do with sci.
Anyway, i eventually joined and it took me weeks and weeks to post my first thread and was so glad i did because the advice i got was invaluable.

Hi, i was a guest lurker and have just now registered. Have really been lurker to find answers to the questions i haven't thought of asking yet! My son, aged nearly 5, was hit by a car on a zebra crossing in November last year. He suffered a c3/4 vertebrae subluxation/displacement (i think those are the correct words!), but it looks as though the spinal cord wasn't damaged and just suffered swelling. He is currently in Frenchay hospital, bristol, UK as that is our nearest neuro hospital. They were talking about transfer to stoke mandeville, but won't do that until they are happy with stability of his spine. He has regained movement in all limbs although his right side is.weaker. The physios are working at standing and have just started.trying out side stepping. Being on a neuro unit as opposed.to a spinal.unit has made us realise just how lucky he was that he didn't have any brain injuries.

I'm going doolally.here, whilst he seems to be fully enjoying the excellent facilities of school and play team that the Barbara Russell children's unit offers!.

Hiya eromdap. Welcome to the forum. Glad you've come out of the closet, as it were. Posted Image

That was a bad deal for your little boy, but it sounds as though he's doing great. Going doolally is a Mum's job in these circumstances. When it gets too bad just remember the fun he's having being the centre of attention. Hope everything works out well for you both.

I can vouch for the Children's Hospital here in my area (& I hear they're ALL "TOP NOTCH" world wide) as 14yr old. They're so understanding & they even got counseling for my whole family as they were also "effected". Children's also had great outpatient therapy & care. Being such a little guy I can' think of a better medical facility for him to be at. If you've got other children don't be afraid to bring up any behavioral problems with THEM to the hospital....my sister was 6 & she had a hard time going from typical "baby of the family" & being so much younger she was used to being the center of attention so she started "acting out" & getting into trouble in school & such...she got a counselor & they talked out her feelings & the counselor was able to do play therapy with her & got her to "understand" that she was still just as important & loved, just she was LUCKY ENOUGH (4 a time she tried feigning illnesses & injuries) to be healthy & not hurt. And they provided help for my Mom & aunt as well. It's a BIG emotional roller-coaster & there is nothing wrong with asking for some help while you're 1st figuring out where all the dips & turns are at.

like someone else already brought up, I think people might think twice about posting because seems like some members on here just like to talk sh*t about what people post without anything positive to add. Or u have those all knowing members that know everything about everything and if u post something that is your opinion they are quick to try to make you feel stupid for posting at all because they are oh sooo smart. I joined this site to try and meet people going through the same thing as me/ same level of injury, for info and tips and tricks from people who have been at this alot longer than me. This is just my opinion.
