I finally had a referal and a bed came up on the same day as my consultant appointment and assesment, so i was real lucky and came the next day.
This is the most life changing experience of my life..for many reasons.
My bladder and bowel issues are getting sorted, cathing is a joy that im getting better at (slowly lol)...i am getting great physio..in fact its my first session today.
I am recieving councelling and wheelchair skills and relaxation classes....its just amazing.
But......i have met the most wonderful people in here..friends that i will most def have with me for the rest of my life. I didnt ever imagine that rehab would be such fun..ive laughed so much till it hurts..go to the pub often and have such a great time in the evenings with a group of friends im becoming so fond of.
I also appreciate the fact that im an incomplete para so so much and in the scheme of things compared to many in this unit and some of my new friends.i am the fortunate one with so much to be thankful for.
This...... other than the opportunity to learn the skills i need to, to enable me for the future..is also giving me the 'time out' i needed..to collect my thoughts and reflect on so much, where i am in my life and where i am going and where i wanto to be.
Im gona do another post about my first night out with these guys, i laughed till i cried and i just have to share it
