My brother-in-law, Chris, passed away August 25, 2011 due to natural causes from Chiari Malformation, Arachnoiditis, Spinal Cord Strokes (as doctors referred to it), and Quadrapeligic. He purchased a Permobile C300 wheelchair on 4/27/10. He barely used the wheelchair. It is like brand new. The original price was $27,651.13. I would like to give a little background on him for those that have Chiari Malformation. He is a twin and father of 3 children, 18,13, and 11. He was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation in 2004 and had his first surgery in 2004 in Memphis, TN. He continued to have really bad headaches, trouble with his gate, and his right foot began to drag when he walked. The Doctor from Memphis told him it was all in his head. He just dealt with the pain for several years and his foot was making it bad enough where he had to use a cane to walk. In August 2007 my husband,Chris' twin, was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and syrinx inside his spinal cord. My husband went to Vanderbilt for help. He had surgery in Oct 2007. At this point Chris was suffering and wanted a second opinion. So he went to Vanderbilt also. The doctors there told him that the Dr in Memphis had done the wrong procedure on him and he also had scar tissue. So they went in and tried to correct what they could but no promises. He continued to go downhill. By 2009 he had to use a walker all the time, then just progressively got worse to where he was concidered a quadrapalegic. It was just too painful for him to be pulled on to get him in and out of bed. He passed away at 40 yrs old leaving behind 3 children. He was living in constant pain everyday. Even though it is hard to lose a love one we know he is in a better place, pain free. We are needing to sell this wheelchair to help pay for the funeral and headstone. We have waited as long as we can on the life insurance and have gotten no response. This is an awesome wheelchair with very few hours on it.
