Vit D is my wonder vitamin !!! It helps chase the blues away!!! I can always tell the difference in my moods after a few days.
I take D3...4000units a day.
You can have a blood tell to see if you are deficient . I wasn't but still take them daily.
Also needed for your body to absorb calcium.

I personally avoid supplements like that, once you pop you won't stop and before you know it you'll be taking all kinds of crap. Maybe first of all try foods that are rich in what you feel you are lacking. Fish is a good one for vitd and just about anything else.
Also beware that vitd, when taken in excess, can weaken your bones, a condition we certainly don't want in our case.

I take Vitamin D, have done for years, people who live in places with lack of sunshine like in Scotland or continents where lack of sunshine and Vit D in their diet have a higher risk of getting MS, as it's supposed to be linked with the disease.

Funny enough, my dad was Scottish, and he too got MS, also his friend too some years later. Must be something true.

Goose and Knightrider: I am pleased to hear that you have positive results, I am certainly going to try vit D. I know Biocare is one of the better producers of such supplements (as well as based in Birmingham UK)and the Nutricentre (Laandon) advise on other companies/products, perhaps they can recommend a dose.
Wheelie182: It is always good to be aware of side effects so I appreciate the response. Certainly the meds that I take since SCI that are prescribed often have side effects that mimic the symptoms that they are used to treat.

Please, no. It'll get into the whisky.
It's mood improving properties are already well known.

For some reason my primary care doctor decided to check my vitamin D levels and found it to be extremely low. She put me on a vitamin D pill which I only had to take 1 time a week for 3 months. She said it's all I needed and they would recheck my levels next year.
I really didn't notice any changes or improvements when on it for those 3 months. I could use some "mood improvements" as I've become quite the grump these days.
However I really am confused why she only had me take the vitamin D once a week for 3 months. She didn't redraw labs or anything just said 3 months of it would be enough. Weird if you ask me.

Vitamin D is the only supplement I take, it's not in many foods and we don't see a huge amount of sunshine here plus I am so pale I am very reluctant to go out in the sun with no sun protection.
Not sure if it makes any difference but it certainly is not doing me any harm and it's as cheap as chips (about £1.80/month from good old Wilko's!)
