I've been struggling to find activities I can still participate in since my accident. I used to be very active outdoors, hiking, running, cycling, rockclimbing, skydiving. I've been mostly playing video games and programming since my accident. Dinner and a movie sometimes. What do you guys do for fun?

I like wheelchair mushing. My dog and I go out about 4 times a week in winter and every day the rest of the year and she (Sky) pulls me in my wheelchair. I have been training her since April 2011. It was one of the best decisions I have made post-SCI.

It might sound like a totally inactive sport (for the person being pulled) but you do have to help your dog up the hills and, if the surface is not level side to side, you have to propell the low wheel to keep the wheelchair on the trail.

Each outing is about three miles long and we average about 7 mph with top speeds around 12 mph.

If interested, check out Facebook - Wheelchair Mushing and Youtube - Wheelchair Mushing.

Hi, I'm a Masters student at City University, London, and I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in explaining to me what it's like to have a spinal cord injury and the way that they have adjusted to life since. I would be looking to interview someone living in London or around.

Apologies in advance if this post has broken any of the forum rules - I think it's a really great site and have learnt a lot from reading some of the discussion posts,

Please let me know if you're interested. My email is juliarampen [at] gmail.com

Best wishes

Julia

I live in a very small, historical town. The school I went to (grammar and high) is now a historical museum operated by the National Park Service and I volunteer here about 21 hours per week. I have a great time talking/messing with tourists. I also am a computer programmer and still have 3 companies that keep me pretty busy.

I'm "only" 6 months post op and recently started PT so I'm still working on / waiting to see what more I can get from this. But next to my job I'm hanging out with my friends having drinks in the city, working on music, playing the guitar, writing a new record, swimming etc.

I too am new here and only out of the hospital (6 month stay) for 5 months. I feel like I am "as good as it gets" and looking for things to get me going again. My doctors still want me to relax and recoup some more before getting a urostomy in March. I used to restore antiques and sell them at a local shop, hunt for bargains at auctions, search for interesting bits of games pieces and flatware to create jewelry, and design interiors for friends. Now I have difficulty just getting out of the house.

My first big challenge is learning to drive again. I bought a red hardtop volvo convertible after my husband died and I want to get out there and drive my sexy little car around...by myself. Which also means finding a new chair.

i'm a C-3,4 incomplete quad and enjoy going to motocross tracks/races/supercross, i have 2 rc trucks that are chin controlled(video 1, 2, 3), recently started bowling by pushing the ball with my feet and hoping it doesn't go into the gutter(video 1, 2, 3), i'm in southern California so the weather is nice most of the year so taking brodie on a walk around the neighborhood or park is usually a daily good time, video games, went to the santa anita horse races yesterday for the first time

My husband has started getting into recreational shooting. He was previously in the military and law enforcement so that came naturally. His past time used to be riding his Harley, the one he was on the day of his accident. We also go fishing and go to the ballpark to watch our son play soccer and t-ball.

I'm big into hunting and shooting to, it's been a part of my like for 30 years and I couldn't give it up. I also get a kick out of taking the Dodge on ORV trails, I load ammuntion and do minor gun repairs/mild customizing for a little extra cash, I love experimenting with bbq rubs and I've been working on this N-scale Southern Railway/Norfolk and Western/Wabash layout. A couple times a year, week long roadtrips, and every summer a skydive.

I still go to the gym, you can always get in shape. I got out and shoot pool with friends sometimes, but what I really like to do is get on my fourwheeler and go mudding. But there are lots of things to still do. I just have to find out what is in your area

My cocker spaniel does a fantastic job of pulling me around and he isn't much more than a foot tall, so you might be surprised BoyFallDown! We go pretty quick and I've only come out a few times...!

I work full time and am currently having to commute 120miles per shift so most of my free time is spent sleeping and walking Sam, my dog. I used to do quite a few sports but have had to stop for now because of work. I've been trying to improve my Russian language recently and also have some professional exams to study for but I really can't count the exam stuff as fun! Otherwise, I guess the same as other people have mentioned; movies, craft stuff, music.

After my accident, the only thing I really enjoy is having poker games at my friend's place or going to the casino. That are things which I can do like a normal AB.
